The location is good. The staff I did not find helpful. While waiting for a taxi I asked to be booked that was 30 mins overdue So hailed one on the street instead of waiting any longer, a physically disabled lady checked in and asked for assistance to bring her bags to her room. The immediate answer from the receptionist was a simple and short 'No there is no one to help you'. It was disgraceful to watch this happen, So I brought her bags up to her room instead. Great way to treat guests and welcome a tourist to Ireland. The windows in the room do not look like they have been washed in a very very long time. The rusty shower curtain rail is not a costly item to replace, yet is left there as an acceptable standard. The mattress are poor, the window could not be opened in the room and I couldn't lock the door to the room. So over all not impressed with this hotel.
Our booking was totally cocked up by Paul. We booked a total of 3 nights for 2 people and got invoiced for 4 nights. On check in we noticed the hotel looked tired and old. I was directed to a room with two single beds which I had to reject straight away. My bathroom had used soap in the sink and a half used packet of washing power on the top. The kettle was missing from my room. The lift buttons are worn out. We ate in the bar, the food presentation was very poor. a simple salad garnish says a thousand words and cost next to nothing!! The room was over 100 euros per night without breakfast! The breakfast was 10 euros extra and ample. The hotel was booked for its location: Next to the sea but, its virtually impossible to get to the beach as there are fences and railway lines to contend with. Summary: Very disappointed.
The hotel is in excellent location for me. The room was comfortable and extremely clean. The food in the bar is very good. Im very disappointed in the breakfast array of food really should consider having better layout and marked items. No milk jugs, sugar in the containers in the bar and restaurant were soaked, needs to be check regularly.
Had stayed at this hotel a few times in the past but this was the first time since it had been taken over. The customer service was excellent. All the staff we encountered during our stay were very helpful. Although we arrived mid-morning, as we were heading to a rugby match that was kicking off at 3pm, meaning we would not be there to check in at 2pm a room was arranged for us to get an early check in and the other was ready just before we left the hotel. The hotel was very clean and tidy and all staff well presented and extremely helpful at all times. The carvery lunch was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
The total ambiance of the hotel and the rooms give a poor impression, with furniture that is old and shows serious tear and wear. The facilities on the ground floor were several degrees to cold to sit there comfortable. We noticed lots of people sitting with their coats on. The manager of the hotel recognized my complain, but this resulted in nothing. On the room and hall was a breath taking smell of air refresher, that appeared to be sprayed every morning, also in the rooms. This was so heavy that we could not avoid “tasting” your refresher. Breakfast: the quality of scrambled eggs and coffee was far below standard.
Good view from front rooms of hotel, but rooms really need updating - soonest. Triple glazing and more sound-proofing between rooms required! If you sleep well, none of this should bother you. Rooms are a good size, and supplied with iron and hair dryer, plus tea making facilities - and beds are comfortable.
Rather difficult to park, but worth the effort. Lunchtime carvery every day, excellent catering for lunch, dinner and breakfast. The standard comedy hotel toaster is there to enjoy, laden with peril. Will it be hit bread or burned to a cinder. You know the type Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Comfortable and spacious rooms, but a little tired in the decor department. The bar is well stocked and welcoming. I enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone for any travel purpose.
A little run down and in need of a refurbish, but the view was nice and the bed was comfy. Good value if you need somewhere to stay for a night or two. Some nice places to eat nearby, and convenient for the train. Shower was hot, room was warm!
Stayed two nights in this hotel. Overall it was a very nice stay. The staff in particular were so friendly and great to deal with. The beds were comfy and it was very clean. A couple things let it down slightly. The hotel itself is a little run down and old eg light switches loose/not working, coving coming off the wall and our window didn't open we switched rooms the next morning. The TV's are old and have limited stations and our remote only partially worked. We also had house keeping walk in on us both mornings despite not being checked out. But for the price and location it suited our purposes perfectly. Would definitely consider staying again.
While the staff was great and the bedding was clean the room were falling apart and not maintained. The first room we were taken into was missing the second bed, most likely because of the mold on the wall where it should have been. The final room was somewhat clean, but flooring was coming up, carpet and curtains were stained, baseboard were separated from walls and water damage was apparent everywhere. The staff is doing the best to keep it clean and functional but it simply needs a remodel. We tried to leave the second day there , but booking online is non-refundable. NO MATTER what. This truly lowered the enjoyment of our trip and we will never stay here or recommend this hotel to anyone.
