Lovely railway. Obviously well run. Neat and tidy - even in the engine shed! Very pleasant ride in lovely countryside.

Great Easter day out! Egg trail for the kids and a pop up pub for the adults. The steam trains are great too. Will definitely go back.

Wet Easter Monday at Tanfield, but thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Lovely friendly staff, especially the guys in the engine sheds. Two very knowledgeable youngsters. Love to visit again on a warmer day!

A wonderful day out, working steam trains, a lovely ride. Sheds and work shops, with steam trains and other historical artefacts. Picnic areas, cafe, train stations and woodland walks to the oldest railway bridge in the world. A pleasant day out. However I would suggest you pick a fine day and one that isn't too cold. Best enjoyed on a mild day or warmish day to make full use of all the area has to offer
