The owner was very accommodating. He fulfilled my every need. At the end he did in fact give me a refund because he accidentally broke my back.
Beautiful Tudor house with a very well-preserved Jacobean interior. Bonus: it can be visited for free!
Fantastic history encased in an equally fantastic historical period building.
A small museum but more to see than I expected. Lots of useful and interesting information and the modern display didn't overwhelm the historic building, unlike in some museums. And it was free, which is always a good thing! A very enjoyable half hour.
This is a fabulous historic building along the Quayside.
Short and sweet visit with grandchildren. An intro to local history for them, and a 1st time there for me. What a lovely building, more a mansion than a house. Beautiful Jacobean rooms.
Excellent place to visit, lots of history, free to get in can get around place fairly quickly as not to big.
Some interesting exhibits, but a bit lacking - there's an exhibition showing students reactions to a story of elopement, but no where where you can read the actual story yourself!!
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent informative free tour of Bessie Surtees House during Newcastle Heritage weekend.
A visit here is like taking a step back in time. Classic jacobean architecture, some lovely period furniture and fireplaces.
