Good equipment, friendly staff, everything you need. Just too busy on peak times, and no sauna or steam room. Luckily the membership gets you into the aquatics centre next door which does have a pool, sauna and steam room.
I enjoy coming here to play squash or badminton but, on our last visit, the last 10-15 minutes or so were less enjoyable as there was someone setting up volleyball posts around us. I understand there’s a schedule, but it was a bit intrusive given our hour wasn’t up. With the big posts co close to the court, someone else could badly hit their head if that happens again while running to hit a shot. The guy started immediately rolling up the net the second the clock struck six which was a bit pedantic, as if you say: ‘that’s it folks, off you go’ A bit annoying.
Great gym. Well equiped with loads of different fitness classes. It's got two floors with a dedicated stretch room, dance studio and cycle studio in addition to the weights and machines
i went here as a student and my review is only of the gym section. it was great. i loved it. great people and all the equipment you could ask for
We have been playing badminton. Easy to book a court, good facilities. Only down side for badminton are the limited time slots and fixed times.
Sugden Sports Centre is located at 114 Grosvenor St. The centre is equipped with a constant temperature and humidity swimming pool, a standard badminton court, a standard basketball court and other types of sports venues, providing a high-quality sports environment for the residents in the area.
Staff here are fantastic. Had an issue with someone on our football team losing his phone and they took the time to help out, search for and find it. Management also fab - Jenny has really looked after us before and then through the pandemic and takes time to make sure pitch and equipment is up to scratch while getting our input to make it a good experience/appropriate to our needs. Fab team - highly recommend
This is a great gym. It's not huge but I don't find it overly crowded and you can always "work-in" with others. The people here are nice and the staff are good too. It's welcoming to beginners but also if you want to do heavy squats or deadlifts this place is also good. They got a deadlift platform and even some bumper plates and one eleiko bar. The only negative is that the lockers require a token that costs 20p each visit and the locker keeps the token.
Decent equipment and facilities but just so busy despite there being a booking system because no one uses the booking system. You can book on to the gym and it will have the full amount of spaces available, then you arrive and every piece of equipment is being used.
Great gym in centre of Manchester close to both universities. No bags allowed in gym area and lockers do not use £1 coins so you need a padlock which isn't information available on the Better UK app which caught me out the first time. Other gyms like Manchester aquatics and similar use £1 coins so make sure you have one. There is also some available to purchase at the front desk for £5 if you forget. I recommend either walking or using the bus as parking is difficult during the day but if you're going late at night you can find a space nearby easily. If not you can pay at the ncp near the aquatics centre for £2.50 for 2 hours and is 5 minute walk away.
