I can't understand all the negative reviews. We have used this firm for years because we trust them. Cars turn up on time. I like getting a text to confirm a car is booked and then another text when car is on way. The drivers are smart and cheerful. People handling phone calls are helpful. Had an issue recently which was dealt with efficiently by Gary. Great customer service. Wouldn't use any other firm.
I can not fault star cabs, I use them through hospital transport. The drivers are always so so lovely, caring, compassionate, chatty, friendly. Yes sometimes there's a wait but really what is to expect!? I understand 100% but I've never had to wait too long so I am grateful. Thank you all for the service I feel so so lucky to be able to get hospital transport going from Coventry to the QEbham and back. Lots of love!
I 'phoned Star cars @ 03.45 this morning to book ask for a quote to B, ham airport, the price was acceptable so I proceeded to book the taxi. The male operator told me the car would "arrive a.s.a.p." I asked if he could let me know how long it would be , to which he replied very rudely that "I should not shout at him" I told him.very calmly that I was simply asking for a E.T.A. so that we would all could be ready to go. He continued to be rude & tell me I was shouting at him, at this point I decided to end the call & we booked with Uber . We have used Star cars for many years but no more, if this is how they conduct their business. I 'phoned the office this morning to speak to a manager & was told very curtly that there was not one in & she didn't know when one would be in, is this really a way to run a business??
I would leave 0 stars but you have to leave 1 to be able to write a review, really wasn’t happy with this taxi service and don’t recommend to anyone! Not reliable! We had a taxi booked for 11pm pick up for 8 people and first of we was told we had a 20 min wait and then they rang saying there was no drivers and they wasn’t coming, ended up getting Uber and they was so much better! Then the same taxi company who we had booked to pick us up at 4am turned up at 1am saying they was outside and if we wanted a taxi we’d have to leave now, we couldn’t which meant later in the night we was all stranded. Won’t be using again!
REVIEW UPDATE - scroll down. Booked this company as it's local to me and I like to support local businesses. Journey into Birmingham was fine - nice, friendly driver Paulos HOWEVER - booking a journey home was a different matter. The app said pick up time was 11:17 - it was already that, so I assumed the cab was close by when booked, and was waiting for me, opposite Snow Hill station as requested. 40 minutes later, still waiting, shivering with the cold, I cancelled the cab. Frustrated that I couldn't get through to Star Cars directly - just an irritating voice message that said my cab was 10 minutes away. Clearly an automated message that never changes. Tracking facility on the app is useless. Eventually used Uber - it took them 3 minutes. If I could give this review 0 stars, I would. Review Update: Martin Walker of Star Cars has responded and, to be fair, explained the situation. I think it’s good that, when things go wrong, the company takes the time to respond and try and repair the damage done by renegade taxi drivers. So my review has been revised and I look forward to using this company again. Everyone needs a second chance!
If I could give 0 stars I would. Taxi driver took £15 off of me for an 11 pound trip and didn't have any change for me, I booked through the app and then they charged me by card too for the same trip! Absolutely appalled, won't be coming back and will be making a furious call for a refund in the morning absolute joke!
We have used Star taxis be it not on a weekly basis but for the odd trip, but always for Airport runs, but last nights experience was not a good one, I phone the office at 2.00am for a lift home, the person on the phone was very difficult to understand, anyway told them there was 4 Adults with cases as you would expect some one coming off holiday, waited 10 minutes no information came through , had 2 phones call off, managed to get through the system told me they could not find a driver , then a driver phoned me to say he was on the way, I reaffirmed that there was 4 of us with cases, he said he was told he was picking up 1 passenger with case, then we had another phone call the driver said he had a estate car and he was concerned about the 4 cases but he turned up and we all squeezed in , thinking our ordeal was over we were wrong while the driver was polite and nice to talk to he continued to drive us home as if we were in a Grand Prix so fast we were concerned somewhat when almost home as no fault of our driver another vehicle pulled out and it was a close call that that we did not collide, it seem that the office dont know what they are doing, and i think its wrong for anyone with a car and a mobile smart phone to think they can become a taxis driver , were have the standards gone in the taxis business , but to be fair not all taxis driver or company's are like this, but now we will think twice before booking Star Cars again, they were in my opium the no1 taxis firm years ago but no longer, glad to say we got home in one piece the the nerves were a bit shaken
So frustrated with Star Cars phone line. I was left in the que waiting to speak to someone for 6 minutes before the phone was just put down on me, gave them the benefit of the doubt, 2nd time trying to call the phone was put down after waiting for a minute to speak to someone?!?! Never had issues in the past using the automated booking system, and Star Cars has always been my go-to service because they've always been reliable hence the 3 stars but trying to get a quote from an actual person seems to be an issue. Please look into your phone lines guys, its so frustrating to have the phone put down on you when you're trying to get through to someone!
I booked for 7.30 this morning last night but it did it didn’t turn up and I was going to new street station so need to be on time, when I tried to call and speak to someone it’s just an automated service. Finally had a car allocated and he was 19 minutes away - people book taxis for a certain time for a reason so this isn’t acceptable. Taxi drive allocated called me and when I asked how far away he was as I was going to the train station he put the phone down. Called Status and they had a car for me in 6 mins
Don't use Star Cars! 8 people all 80 year olds were stuck in the village of Whittington at midnight stranded! This was in spite of having a text confirmation of the booking. 3 phone calls from me only got through to automated voice informing me Star were looking for a driver. Then an email at 00.27 telling me they had cancelled the booking. Appalling, absolutely scandalous! We were eventually rescued by 2 very helpful UBER taxis. Subsequent phone calls for an explanation were made and phone calls back by a manager were promised. Not surprisingly no calls back were received! Don't use Star Cars!
