Expect a warm welcome on arrival, ideally situated a very short walk from a few hotels in the area and I can assure you they serve much better food. I ordered the mixed grill and as a big eater I was ready for the challenge but was really struggling at the end. The steak was cooked just how I’d ordered, sausages very nice with the nice addition of black pudding and a beef burger that really makes a mixed grill for me. Everything was lovely and I had no room for dessert although they looked amazing. Prices very reasonable for the size of the portions and the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure everything was to my standard. I was pleased to see they had two locally produced real ales on my visit which seemed well kept. I will certainly be visiting again.
Amazing visit today! My dad wanted to visit with it being his birthday. We booked in advance and the table was perfect. The staff were attentive, friendly and funny, and the food was beautiful! It arrived maybe 10 minutes after ordering, piping hot and delicious. As a veggie, trying to find a good Sunday roast can be tricky, but it was beautiful I had the nut roast, although looking at the beef on everyone else’s plates, I could have been tempted! Great prices and great atmosphere! Do not overlook!!!
Excellent friendly welcoming atmosphere. Staff very pleasant and helpful despite eating at end of shift. Food excellent freshly prepared and cooked good size portions local fresh vegetables very tasty. Good value for money. Great welcome back following day when only called in for a drink. Good to see and speak to owner and observe staff being treated well at end of shift

Good food. Nothing fancy but certainly not low quality. Good portions too. Staff were really good at service and attentive. Very fast service, low wait times for the meal. Sundays they do Traditional Sunday Lunch as well as Pizza and Pasta. Parking: Small car park but space on street and around.
I really liked this place, beat my expectations by a long way. Food was really good. My rump steak was great flavour and cooked exactly how I wanted it, £13 for rump steak that good and tasty was great. Pizza and pasta also was good. The staff were friendly and helpful and you did not have to wait to be served. Its somewhere I would go again if I was in the area. It was a Thursday evening and was busy but a table was found for us, it could get really busy here at times I would imagine!
Food was amazing, great value, fab customer service
I would highly recommend this local family owned restaurant. Very warm welcome on arrival. Food was delicious. Two people in our party said the garlic mushrooms were the best starter they had ever had! Steak fajitas were amazing also. Portion sizes were great, and good value for money. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area
We ended up in The Skiff Inn after a late check-in at the Holiday Inn, to have a diner with the kids. The steak must be the best I had in the last few years. Incredible service by the super friendly staff. The kids were given toys to play with by Joe himself. And the friendly waitress gave them a lolly as she noticed the kids being dead tired by the long journey. I’ll definitely be back whenever traveling from Belgium to Scotland.
