My favourite pub in Newcastle since i was student back in 2003. Very big pub with lots of screens to watch sports. Is located in the city centre next to the shops. Sunday roast is amazing and definitely recommended. There is a big variety of beers and ales you can enjoy.
I recently popped in here for bite to eat as I often have drinks in this pub and other than have snacks here I decided to get the carvery which I hadn't had for a while. What a big disappointment. Although the meat was OK, The vegetables, macaroni cheese and the green beans were cold and very over cooked, it just slid down my throat. I wouldn't eat it again unless I was reassured they had up there game. I did imfom someone but they just said I will let them know and that was that. I will return for drinks and maybe snack food but that's it. The toilets for me were OK on this visit but the mens were pretty awful so I was imformed by my friend who i was with although they do have accessible toilets. The goose did look clean and tidy. I wouldn't on this occasion recommend to my family or friends. I will go back but for drinks
Called in for food before the Newcastle game. Place was very busy, but found a table and ordered. I had the bacon cheeseburger and the daughter had the Roast dinner calzone. I enjoyed mine, and I'm told hers was amazing.
Had a carvery dinner, with everything on it. It was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked and presented well, beef, pork and turkey was lovely and fresh and moist. Vegetables were beautiful too. Good wide range of choices. Gravy was perfect and I had a monstrous portion! Lashings of mint sauce to make it snazzy and I ate every bit as it was so nice. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks to the chefs who know how to do a good dinner! :-D
Came here for a quick meal last night whilst in the area. Prompt service & super friendly staff. The carvery was lovely and well presented. My sister really enjoyed her burger also. Everyone was lovely - will definitely revisit soon! :
Popped in for a Bank Holiday Carvery. We hit lucky as their set menu of 2 courses for £9.99 was available. We got 2 delicious carveries & 2 desserts, along with the drinks, total cost was £24. Nice atmosphere & lovely, friendly staff. Tyler on the Carvery serving was great, even rustled us up portions of plain cauli without the sauce. Definitely worth a visit
Very nice, cosy place to have Christmas dinner. Staff were very accommodating and service was impeccable, Dave in particular was awesome!
Cheap drinks, good food and friendly staff, what more do you want!? I had a double cheeseburger with bacon and it was succulent and tasty. As you could imagine, it gets very busy on match days! Great first stop for your night on the toon.
After a day visiting Newcastle we stopped here for tea after booking online. Some of the group ordered the carvery, that was ok except some of the veg looked like it had sat there all day and had gone dry but the meat was tasty as were the potatoes. Some of the group ordered off the main menu and these we nice and cooked fresh. The desserts were very nice. Apart from the dried out veg we had a nice meal and the staff were very good.
Don't let the bells end and keep this carvery going all night! The cavelry will all stop for the absolute legend Dave, who gave us a wonderful Christmas time this year with his hospitality. Crossing the pubs threshold you really step into Christmas, experience a real Christmas tale, and get a little warm this winter. Good food is what Christmas means to me and if I found this carvery underneath the tree, I'd definitely have a thankful heart this year.
