Curvy Brides Wedding Photography - Shining Cliff Woods has some amazing abandoned places, well worth exploring as long as you keep safe. Ive done horror shoots, bridal shoots, pet shoots, teenager shoots and couple shoots down here,, even some for an assignment when I was studying!
Lovely place. It can be muddy.
Lovely place for walks with the kids and dogs. So many different walks you can be there all day if you wanted too
Beautiful, peaceful, lovely place to walk the dog. Can get boggy after rain. Excellent for bluebells in spring. Autumn is fantastic whilst winter is exhilarating. Hilly terrain, rocky underfoot so good boots needed depending on weather.
Nice woodland walk
Lovely place for walks all year round, can be a bit muddy in winter
Excellent urbex. A 'must visit' Treat it with the upmost respect. Leave only footprints n memories. A true gem of Derbyshire. Beware of the REAL Ghosts...
A fantastic looking Place Great for walks and was great for mountain biking at one point but the council have put massive knocked down trees in the way to stop you from going down the hill fast if those trees were not there it would have had 5 Stars but well recommended for a nice walk
Wonderful walks, great views. Can be pretty muddy in places, so sensible footwear advised. The downside is parking is very hit and miss, with limited parking from roadside at Holly Lane, going through The Birches first, following the track through the old wire works. Oakhurst House which is now ruins, is up a path to the right. Keep going and you are into Shining Cliff Woods, and further on the historic 2,000 Yew Tree, of Rock A Bye Baby fame. There is also parking if you carry on up Holly Lane for a few miles onto the Whatstandwell road, near Bear Lodge. Again just off the road, and parking very limited. The walks from here, are wonderful. This area has a lot of cycle use. Unfortunately many are riding aggressively and are a danger to walkers and horse riders alike. Abusive language often accompanies their style of riding, if you dont jump out of the way fast enough ! Its such a shame, as consideration towards all users by everybody, would make this a more pleasant experience !
Hiked through these woods with the Derbyshire Dales Ramblers group. Even after a couple of days rain it was still a great walk. Also purchased a painting inspired by the local area by Gordon Bell a local walker who was part of the group. Bluebells on fineartamerica website. Impressed by the local beauty and talent. I will return to this area to walk again.
