The sort of park you feel is important and central to the community spirit of Matlock. Well maintained lawns, hedges and flower beds, groups of people sat around on the grass, children in the playground and pool, when filled, boats for hire on the pond, and seats available on the miniature railway. Coffee and tea, cakes and excellent ice creams at the cafe, It's a classic park, and almost quintessentially English. Very relaxing.
This park is a true gem! Mature trees provided dappled shade as I wandered along the well-maintained paths. The park was sparkling clean, and it was refreshing to see responsible dog owners keeping their furry friends on leash. I enjoyed relaxing on a bench with a good book and listening to the birds singing."
Lovely park with lots of amenities. Excellent toilets. The cafe looks nice but haven't yet tried it as usually have fish and chips from over the road or take a picnic. It's at the end of a good cycling/ walking trail from Rowsley.
Lovely park set next to the River Derwent. Been coming here for over 50 years. Still got the train and boat rides! Nowadays for me this is a stop off point for food whilst on a circular walk via Matlock Bath, taking in High Tor and the Height of Abraham. There is also a small paddling pool, ideal for the toddlers in high summer.
Value for money trains boats, water feature in the park. Good Sunday fun for the children, Oh fish and chips on a Sunday and ice cream all reasonably priced.
Really well kept and beautiful park with excellent landscaping. The flowers and plants were brilliant and it was nice seeing so many people enjoying themselves and relaxing in the park. The cafe and ice cream vans were nice additions as well. Playground: Superb outdoor water park area for kids to enjoy in the warmer weather directly next to the standard play equipment.
I went to the Christmas market with my hubby in Matlock, which is our first time to visit there, and to watched a lady singing a song show and firework show that is a good experience and a wonderful night.
Great family fun, plus ducks..boat rides too!! clean loo, free parking, tho not for long.. great weather, fantastic,
Some nice borders, colourful. Families enjoying them selves. Ice cream, river, drinks, sun shine. But the miniature train was not running a pity.
Very nice park and well maintained
