Scotland Street School Museums
"Scotland Street School Museum is currently closed for a major refurbishment. This exciting project will see the building, originally designed as a school by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, take on a new, wider purpose, including the creation of an early years nursery and a digital learning hub, in addition to the museum service. The refurbishment is part of Glasgow City Council’s ambitious expansion plans to offer the national commitment of 1140 hours of fully funded early learning and childcare to all 3- and 4-year olds – and eligible 2-year olds – in the city.Almost £45million has been awarded by the Scottish Government to fund these projects across the city."

I gave it 1 star only because rather than temporarily closed it was a building site, I really do hope it comes back to life because I made the journey to see it and was disappointed that there was very little I could see through the scaffolding.. hope to get the chance to see it in a condition more like its original formVisited onWeekday

Great museum. Set up in a fantastic building with various classrooms set up for different eras and display rooms with interactive displays. The boys and girls cloakrooms have costumes for kids dress up. Cafe inside. No parking.
Located in the district of Kingston, Scotland street school museum has wonderfully preserved the evolution of education system in Scotland in the 2Oth century. We were fascinated by the exhibits. I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in history and education. The employees there are very knowledgeable and welcoming. My 8 year old daughter was shown all the toys commonly used by both boys and girls in Scottish schools in the last century and she could play with some of them.
A very nice and entertaining museum with friendly staff. Adults and children will enjoy their time there.
A very nice place to visit, especially for kids. Seeing the classrooms kinda reminded me of my childhood days. The entry is free.
Enjoyed the visit. Top floor is restored to look like classrooms from the 50's and 60's. Nice place to take kids and grandparents
Such a shame it's currently wrapped in scaffolding, but this is definitely a building which deserves some TLC.
great place to see some of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's work. Beautiful building and easy enough to get to by the metro
It was really great to travel back in time to see how education used to be and what we have today loved the architecture in here very interesting
