A very depressing shopping experience. Shelves are often empty and the staff are unhelpful. It’s badly stocked and they didn’t have any decent boxes of chocolates for thank you gifts. One member of staff tried to physically dodge me when I was trying to ask her if they had any hash browns. Her reply was “if you can’t see them then no” and ran away. Another member of staff just vaguely gestured with one arm without looking up or making eye contact when I asked her where the mushrooms were. Most of the checkouts are self service which I’m not keen on. Very expensive for what it is. Even more so without a nectar card. Now I know why I prefer shopping in Waitrose.
Freezers are often broken, selling half defrosted food. The self-checkout till are understaffed and frequently broken. Fresh food is often out of stock or already rotting.nnThe new chilled cabinets make shopping very challenging for someone who struggles with mobility. You have to hold the door open as you look for what you want, the shelves are deeper and darker.nnNew barriers have been installed, making the store feel unsafe.
Nice and clean, always fully stocked, the woman in the self- service could try to smile first thing in the morning, could be really off putting for some people, me I just ignored her.
My local Sainsbury's was never brilliant tbh, but it was at least dependable, convenient and predictable.nHowever, over the last six months, an ill advised, misguided and seemingly endless 'reorganisation' of the store has seen it descend into maddening, teeth grinding chaos. It's completely mental.
