"Excellent" is the perfect word to describe our experience at Sager + Wilde Paradise Row. My friend and I sat at an outdoor table on a warm Thursday evening, enjoying the lovely ambiance and vibrant vibes. The menu was so inviting that we wanted to try everything—and we nearly did! We ordered all the starters to share and a main course each, and every dish was incredibly delicious. The fresh, mouthwatering ingredients left us ordering their homemade focaccia three times just to clean our plates! We paired our meal with a couple of bottles of wine from their impressive wine list and finished with a glass of exceptional whiskey. Beyond the fantastic food, the service was impeccable. Our server, whose name we unfortunately missed, was friendly and attentive. Honestly, it was one of the best dinners we've had in a long time.
We loved our food and wine here and service was excellent. Little quiet when we were there for lunch but we really enjoyed ourselves and were impressed with the food. The lentils and pumpkin dish was out of this world. This restaurant is almost across the street from The Young V&A and it’s a great place to eat if you’re going there w kids to an exhibit. Very convenient to tube station too. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Great wines by the glass. Kid-friendliness: We brought our kids and they loved it and there were younger children and a baby in the restaurant too. Mind you it was lunch and not dinner. Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is wheelchair accessible but would have to check loos
The food was good. And so was the terrace outside. But the service was pretty bad! I love the wine bar and expected some sort of wine knowledge or service but we didn’t get any of that. All servers seemed rushed, disorganised. Takes ages to order a drink and to get a drink… no menus or water when we arrived and overall eye rolling while they should be apologised… Overall I think it has potential to be as good as the wine bar but they need to rethink the service…
We visited Sager and Wilde on Friday early evening, arriving just an hour after opening. Service was great - we had all explanations and attention throughout the evening. Last time we’ve been to Sager+Wilde was 3 years ago and can definitely say it improved since then. We have tried all non-carne plates and all of them were super tasty and creative, crayfish salad to highlight. We decided not to get any desserts as there was nothing with chocolate Generally our experience exceeded expectations and I would heart-fully recommend this place for tapas and wine, just wine or just tapas. Ambience is very romantic and stylish. Thanks again for the wonderful evening and hope to come back soon.
Fabulous selection of wines but careful, your choice can make the meal a bit too expensive. Menu is short but very well cook. It was super quiet when went there so had a good chat with the hostess who helped us with the wine. Very nice place but if you are a fuzzy eater maybe not for you. Men toilets were broken so there was a queue for the only one available, every single time.
The ambiance at Sager + Wilde is really lovely. You’ve got a railway arch, large mature trees, outdoor lights and an eclectic mix of hipster type customers making the place all vibey and cool. Unfortunately the food is disappointingly basic and really lacking depth or complexity of flavour. Particularly when viewed through the lens of the fancy-speak menu wording. For example, my whipped cod’s roe and fennel crudité was in fact a dollop of taramasalata with some roughly chopped fennel next to it, which I had to tear into ‘crudités’. The tuna carpaccio was the most flavoursome of our starters but the tuna was unseasoned and the dish lacked any sort of oomph or personality. The tagliatelle and spaghetti were on the crunchy side of al dente, and my spaghetti was drying out on the plate when it arrived, so had to turn it over in the sauce to re moisten it. Luckily it was all stuck together so it was like turning over a birds nest. The sauces were okay. Everything was ‘okay’. It was like a 1970’s housewife found a Mediterranean cookbook and gave everything a whirl, but she had none of the herbs or spices in her cupboard so she just put the ingredients together and covered her sins with lashings of olive oil. The greatest sin of all, however, is the baked aubergine. I cannot fathom the brazen disillusionment that lies behind the action of serving up half a sad aubergine on a plate, with some kind of mushy miscellaneous ‘filling’ for £16 - with no side to it whatsoever. No rice, no salad, no nothing. Just the baked aubergine staring back at you from the plate. You know it’s what you ordered, but somehow you just expected more. The food was so disappointing we didn’t stay for dessert. We spent £150 on 4 people with a £33 bottle of wine. The staff were a mixed bunch, a couple were fairly friendly and one guy was fairly unfriendly. They were nice to our dog which is a massively redeeming quality. Dogs are allowed outside but not inside. Overall I would say I might consider going back here again for some wine with a friend, as it’s very convenient to Bethnal Green station and a nice place to sit on a summer evening. But I definitely wouldn’t eat here again.
A cozy, dimly lit restaurant under a train. Perfect for a date night in East London. I wouldn't walk here, but once you get here, it's a very cool little spot. You can hear the train rumble, but it isn't loud enough to really be a bother. We went with the chef's menu, which was an assortment of the a la carte menu. Our favorites were the ricotta, the spaghetti, and dessert. The service was great. The sommelier suggested the perfect wine. The host and waitresses were all polite and cheerful too!
The bavette was above expectation and I do recommend. The starter pig cheek was well cooked as expected. Had high expectations for the server recommended ragu, slightly disappointed in how salty it is, but could go well with your drink if you order any. focaccia is a slight rip off for £5, but pasta+house wine for £12 is a good deal between 5:30-6:30pm Overall, nice spot for dating dark inside so has the ambience and good food
This is a local wine bar / restaurant for us, so we eat here semi-frequently. Every time the food is incredible! Great value for what feels like good fine dining. Every dish is thought through and well executed, with inventiveness that surprises you too. Always a delight. Extensive wine list, with friendly staff who are generally knowledgable about what they are serving you and the different options available. And always a really lovely atmosphere too. Especially with the doors open when the sun is out! Can’t recommend highly enough.
We really enjoyed our dinner here on Friday night. I've been before in the summer and it's great with the outside tables but the inside is also really nice and cosy. The waitress' were helpful in explaining the dishes and any questions we had. Between the two of us, we shared the ricotta with tomato, with some focaccia really nice, smoked beetroot, tardivo and hazelnut creme great crunch and flavour, crayfish with agretti and fennel fresh, veal with risotto and bone marrow rich but good, venison with horseradish and some greens meat was perfectly cooked and flavours worked well and ricotta rhubarb fritelli which was tasty.
