My my my what an incredible little place. On arrival, the very unassuming front fit in with the local area and doesn’t stand out but a hidden gem is truly hidden inside. The Maître D’ was fabulous when we arrived and sat us down even though we were early for our booking. Our waitress was an absolute charmer and extremely knowledgeable. We chose our dishes and also opted for the wine pairing which was divine. Each wine was carefully selected and matched the dish perfectly. We asked several questions while we were sat down and got great answers both times.
This place feels past it’s prime. Went on the basis of it being recommended on hot-dinners. Whilst I’m sure at one point it deserved a visit, not anymore. The carte Blanche/tasting menu was oysters, bread, pasta, goat, ducks hearts, dessert. Some of it was good, especially liked the duck hearts, bread and oysters. The pasta had no place on the menu and ‘main’ of goat/sirlon/or fish is very small, and just plain underwhelming. Tasting menus normally leave me feeling stuffed with flavour, but I left here just bored, and still hungry. Which never happens. To pair with the mediocre food; service is slapdash and carefree, the lighting for some bizarre reason flickers from light to dark at random intervals, and whilst there’s a huge wine list you should bear in mind there’s a better wine bar just down the road. They need to get more interesting here or just give up.
Absolutely fantastic food and incredibly fun and delicious wine pairing to accompany. To us, the menu seemed quite opaque or perhaps understated when you read it. Which is to say that it doesn't read like something that's going to be as delicious as it actually is. Strongly recommend! Note that it's pricey, but if you're reading this you're probably already aware of that.
Simple food with a slight twist executed to perfection. Every dish we ordered here was amazing, probably one of the nest wine bars for food in London that I have been to. The mussels in sake broth were a particular standout.
Mixed feedback - food is above average but the staff are seriously under trained and unprepared. Our waitress was super anxious and made our experience v unpleasant. The gentleman running the downstairs bar had BO issues.
This place is super under rated, but the reality is that it’s amazing... the food is very special and more than anything, we’ll put together and an immaculate execution. Unusual combinations that do honestly combine and will make me for sure come back... The price is not expensive at all and is definitely a place to go, try and come back.
Great cover, super friendly staff and food is delicious. Very fish and seafood heavy menu, which I don't eat. But even though I loved the place. Definitely try the burrata if they have it and the papperdelle.
Wow. Beautiful design. Glorious food. Wonderful staff. Value for money considering the chef serves Michelin Star quality dishes. Love that I live near here so I can make it my new local.
This place is good, but there’s definitely room for improvement. What we liked: nice ambiance and interior design. Of the food, the brussel sprouts and mushroom tempura was my fav. What can be improved: the lamp that was directly over our table was flickering dark and light the entire night, it got exhausting near the end. I was super disappointed in the wine choices by the glass. There were only maybe 3 and the full bodied one was nothing like what I normally like, huge bummer as this is a wine spot. The cabbage was way under done and tasted pretty awful despite the nice charring. My friend and I wanted to do the tasting menu but she can’t eat mushrooms and they weren’t able to accommodate, also disappointing. Definitely open to giving it one more shot, hopefully there will be more positive changes in a few months!
Excellent wine, easy enough to get a table, and some really strong dishes. Worth a visit for sure.
