The food at the royal raj was good, the service from one of the waiters was very rude. He needs to appreciate his customers, we always leave a tip but not yesterday. I was there with my friends and we all said the same, he took a glass of beer that was not finished and put a bottle of wine on the table, he did not ask if one of us would like to try the wine, just banged the bottle down on the table and walked away. We all felt he wanted to rush us throughout the evening, even to the extent of putting the bill on the table, when we may have wanted something else. We will not be returning.
Food was tasty for the most part, one of the meals came out cold but the staff were rude and abrupt. It felt like they didn't want us to be there. The food took over an hour to arrive even though it wasn't busy in the slightest only 4 tables including my party. Won't be back any time soon.Food: 4/5
Such a shame - food was good not amazing but certainly above average But the waiter we had was dreadful - food was literally thrown down on the table/ drinks were banged down in front of us/ he shouted rudely the names of the food he was putting in front of us and scowled the whole evening. It was so bad that the next table to us who he was also serving started a conversation with us about it. We did complain to the manager who was really nice and polite - however no offer of a reduced bill/free coffee/acknowledgement of the waiter’s behaviour. If I want a Basil Fawlty experience I will go somewhere else next time. Certainly no intention of returning
Couldn't eat it all! Had to miss the desserts ,too full of lovely spicy curry ,etc , would recommend,,but would be advisable to book in advance, so popular, only just managed to find a parking space in the large Car park...Food: 5/5
Food was great, when we’re spending our well earnt cash, and can’t afford to go out often, we don’t expect to be treated as third rate citizens. One guy who’s customer service was so rude like beyond rude that it’s actually insulting.
Service was more pleasant than the competing establishment. Not pressured to keep buying drinks. Papadum pickles were a little different to most standard offerings which was nice. Perfect naan breads and rice. Chicken tikka main was nicely cooked and spiced. Lamb badonia got my friends approval and the portion size was excellent although one extra piece of lamb would have been ideal.
Excellent restaurant, good food, good hygiene, good social distancing and great value for money as the portions are huge. I was passing through Bristol with the family, due to go to London the following morning. If you're staying in any of the hotels near the Hilton double Tree North this restaurant is ideal.
Visited here for a birthday meal, group of 8 of us, not impressed at all with the food, didn't feel very welcoming when we arrived a group of 6 staff all staring at us, really nice restaurant but the food was tasteless and we were all ill the next morning, Will stick to the Taj Brassiere up the road always a good curry and very friendly staff......
We are sat here this morning discussing how nice the food was last night - that tells you all you need to know. Thank you staff at Royal Raj.
Please ignore any negative reviews on here, genuinely laughable. People simply LOVE to moan. Quality experience tonight - excellent service despite a very busy restaurant and the food was top drawer. And this was my first time, I’m definitely not “a local”.
