I spent a lot of my childhood here and still visit the park at least once a year. It has changed a little bit over time with some things taken away, there used to be an outdoor swimming pool, and some things added, like the new skate park. It remains a beautiful park, great for a stroll around the lake, flower gardens and trees or just finding a quite spot to sit and relax. There is the aforementioned skate park with ramps etc, a brilliant children's play area, tennis courts and an amazing cafe restored back to its former glory and serving delicious cakes and teas and coffee etc.

A great place that we are lucky to have hear in York. It is a beautiful park that is really well maintained. It has permanent table tennis tables free to use outside - just take your own equipment. it has a great skateboard park, very popular with the teenagers. Tennis courts you can book. I cannot recommend this park any more and just shows with a picnic, you can spend a full day here for next to nothing. There is a fantastic cafe on site which has outside decked area where you can sit with your dog. The prices are reasonable, but not cheap! It is where a library of books is also held so has a great feel.

The Rowntree family did a lot of good things around York, the trust continues that work. Rowntree Park is one of the finest small urban parks in the country. Its layout provides great vistas and it serves the purpose of many segments of the local population, from skateboarders to model yacht owners. The children's play area is lovely and the café, of late, has become very nice & welcoming (though it would be nice to be able to take dogs indoors!). A great family half day/day out in any weather - fun, picturesque, safe with lots of variety.

Great place to bring the family on warm, sunny days. Lots of birds to feed and a fun play park makes for a full day out. Watch out for the goose poo as there is a lot of it, but other than that it's highly recommended.
