Handy small car park close to the city centre. We had some issues with paying, but a very helpful person called Jessica sent the payment via an email link which resolved our issue. This is the cheapest car park we could find but still expensive.
The ticket system is flawed and the company that manages it take every opportunity to give you a fine and basically couldn't care less as long as they grab your money. Car park is fine if not a little narrow on the entrance and exit and very exposed to people wandering through. If their system fails to register the amount you paid correctly against your registration they will fine you and you don't have any way of proving them wrong. I will not be using this one again and advise you do not either but it won't make any difference because there are always plenty more mugs who haven't been ripped off yet right?
You can stay at this car park 24 hours well lit and conveniently situated for the town but it does get full very quickly. Find a space and park before you loose the space
Crooks Parking machines are faulty. We visited York for the first time, enjoyed our visit and paid what the machine requested upon leaving unfortunately not taking notice on the time we’d parked. £4.50 was paid. Two weeks later, we received a pcn to inform that we’d underpaid by one hour. We sent the car park ticket to explain that we paid the requested amount and after reviewing this, we were told that we should have taken notice of the car park charges and time we were there! I’ve never done that with any car park that uses numberplate recognition and NEVER had an issue! If the system doesn’t work, the customer shouldn’t pay for the mistake!
Handy carpark as you can pay when you leave, offsetting the stress of looking for change. Believe you can pay via mobile too. Parked here when I stayed at The Grand hotel.
OK, it was a tad expensive as I parked here for just over 48 hours, but I’d happily pay again as it was convenient, centrally located to Walmgate, and within a 1 minute’s walk from an Air BnB I’d booked for the weekend. Due to the cost and the fact it’s relatively hidden, I’m sure it’d always be possible to find a space at this car park. Would definitely use again.
The car park is fine- its a car park! Pricing as you would expect within the city walls. It works on ANPR and pay on exit. This is also fine. The problem arises if you're unlucky enough to have an issue with its automated system. We were outside regular hours and the machine had taken our money £42, then rejected it down the aborted transaction slot. The design of the machine means the coins block access to get your rejected cash back. None of the phone contacts on the info board were open, no support whatsoever. After ages trying to find ways around it we had to drive off without payment the machine still had our money even though it wasn't registering it and risk their huge fines. We took pictures and videos of the situation and it took lots of emails and telephone calls back in business hours to sort. Loads of time wasted. Support please! Advice-Pay by card- by the way it had been cash only in previous years.
Handy parking for a quick trip to the town centre. We had payment issues on the machine but called the management company and they sorted it with an efficient and friendly service. Only small so spaces are limited but it's our car park of choice when visiting the city.
Parked here during the recent offer of 4 hours for free if you register your car registration number with participating retailers. I followed the instructions correctly and parked for 2.5hrs. 2 weeks later I received a fine for £100 for none payment! This is meant to get shoppers back into the city. Do visit York but don't park here. Rip off!! I won't be paying the fine.
So I left my car in peel st parking on Saturday just gone . I have a condition called fibromyalgia, one of the symptoms is memory loss . As a result of this I couldn’t find my car . After 3-5 hours of searching the area I decided to travel back to Bradford by train. After much investigative work I found the car park online, this is four days later !. I made a phone call to the company to confirm it was there and a lovely young lady “Natalie”told me it was. When collecting the car I made a further call to Natalie to organise payment,I was told the whole time my car was there was free and gratis , totally unexpected so my sincere thanks go out to “Natalie” and her team .
