Service was excellent. Very cheerful, service-oriented staff! The room was very comfortable and clean. Only 2 minor issues: 1. No chair- my husband has a bad back and needs a chair to sit on when in the room and not on the bed. There was a stool so that sufficed; and 2. Door to bathroom self closes all the time and can be noisy if you aren’t careful. If needing a chair- go to the lounge/dining area -comfortable. The rooms are also not super sound proof so try and be respectful of your neighbours. The restaurant food was great. We only had breakfast but the dinner meals looked very, very good quality. There is a bar and you can order a drink if you wish. Location isn’t bad. A short walk around the park/field and you are in the square- maybe? 10 minutes. Tv in the room, coffee pot, make up mirror, towel rack heated.
We stayed here as part of a tour group. The rooms were warm and cozy. The breakfast was included as part of the tour. It would put American hotel breakfast to shame! They have full Scottish breakfast and Scottish oats, among other options. It was all delicious. They offer a three course dinner in the evenings which is extra. It was delicious! The hotel is a short walk from the town center so you can easily explore. The rooms are in a quiet place but you can hear your room neighbors. Overall great experience.
We spent two days here on tour. We liked the room - it was nice and warm, but our experience with the service was horrible. The staff were friendly, but they did not do their job properly. On the first night we got dinner, which was good, but ... my husband didn't get his dessert, even though we paid for it, and I had to wait 20 minutes for mine. When I finally got it, it came without a spoon and the waitress just took a spoon from another guest and gave it to me, even though the guest may have already eaten with that spoon ?!! We were so shocked that we left the dining room and didn't even bother to wait for his dessert and everyone else in the group had already eaten their meal, including dessert, and the staff had started to clean up the dining room. The next morning our breakfast experience was the same - the food was OK, but the service was terrible. The staff is not organised, we waited 15-20 minutes for toast and coffee - the waiters don't even answer when you call them. When we finally got our coffee and toast, the coffee was spilled all over the place and a member of staff started humming and pretending everything was fine. Very unprofessional. I was not surprised to see other reviews here about the service. Food & drinks: One of the worst experience we had.
The room was small but comfortable, the staff were very nice and accommodating, and the food was good. However, the walls are very thin. We could hear people talking on either side of us, especially if they were in the bathroom and could hear the water running when they showered so if you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs. I’d give it a solid 3.5 stars.
This place is fantastic. It was our stay with highland explorer tours and we were more than happy. The chief is great. We had a 3 course menu which was awesome every night. Quiet and close to the town.Rooms: 5/5
Helpful staff. not far away walking to the bus station good breakfast highly recommend to book the dinner in advance. It is difficult to find a good place for dinner in Portree
The staff was incredibly kind, helpful and patient. I was very impressed by the overall vibe and friendliness of everyone. Thank you Skye Inn! Great walkability, very safe, the rooms were clean and had everything I needed. Oh, and the food was SO GOOD. Do not skip out on dinner & breakfast.
Cute! Stopped in for the night as we explored the Isle. Great, friendly service, including the cute cat from the neighbor. Reduced one star because the bathroom door is on a spring and will not stay open. It will always close shut on its own…. A bit inconvenient if you’re trying to warm up the bathroom or let the steam out. On check out, barely made breakfast cut-off time and they graciously offered to bring it to our room! Wonderful! Walkability: Easy to walk out to the main area for shopping and dining.
We stayed here as part of a Highland tour. Loved it! People in Skye are incredibly friendly, and the Inn was lovely. Clean, small but comfy rooms, and the staff is fantastic. Highly recommend!
We were there as part of a group tour. We were booked in for 2 nights. The room was nice and clean, the beds were comfy. Breakfast was really nice, but as we were in a large group it seemed a bit chaotic. We said what we wanted and it was brought out. However often you ended up with brown toast instead of white. I asked for porridge with nuts and honey, but mine had cinnamon in as well, not a problem, , just meant someone had mine without cinnamon! It was delicious though. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The menu is very small for evening meals, 3 items. And it wasn’t open on a Sunday evening for meals, but that seemed to be the case In Portree, not everywhere was open in a Sunday. The staff were all pleasant and helpful
