Excellent location in the heart of Kendal. Just a short walk across the river into the town centre for a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants etc. Free parking on site was a big bonus.nStaff were great - very helpful and knowledgeable. We had an issue with a leaking toilet and we were immediately moved into another room.nThe room was a good size - clean and comfortable and we loved the river view.nOnly negative was that the room was very warm. Good in autumn/winter but not sure what it would be like in summer as there is no air conditioning.nThe leisure facilities had a very well equipped gym along with pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi/hot tub. Although the steam room could do with a little TLC with several missing / broken tiles.nWould definitely stay again.
Highly recommended. On arrival , very good receptionist. We had a small dog and so ate breakfast in the Tanners which was absolutely fine. The breakfast staff in the restaurant offered to bring tea coffee downstairs to us endlessly. Could not have asked for more . Pool amenities were excellent. Location amazing . Highly recommended.
Good location and very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are a bit outdated and have adjoining doors to the next room. The adjoining doors are not even slightly soundproof. We had our next-room neighbour return at 1am and put their TV on quite loudl which stopped us from sleeping most of the night. They also sounded very drunk, so we didn't want to complain to them and there was no-one else to complain to at that time of night.
Stayed 1 night en route to Scotland on 9/10. All staff were excellent, room was fine, overlooking river. Dog friendly and our labrador was impeccable. Nice food too. I am disabled and was assisted.
This is an unpretentious and affordable hotel in the lovely town of Kendal. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a stopover on the way up north. It did the job. Good points : free parking either under the hotel or a 3 minute walk away, clean rooms, friendly staff in restaurant, good pub grub. However, room was a lot smaller than it looks on website, shower is like a garden hose, walls are very thin so you can hear everything bring earplugs and soft old mattress so you won't sleep very well. Breakfast good value at £10 extra, all buffet so the usual flaccid eggs cooked 2 hours earlier, etc but plenty to eat. In summary, this is a dated 3 star hotel so it gets a 3 star review.
