Returned from 5 day break last Wednesday. The holiday from start to finish was brilliant. All the staff were the best couldn't single out one person. I know it is their job ,however they all went above and beyond to make an enjoyable holiday. The rooms were spotless with a lovely walk in shower, meals were substantial. We went on 2 day trips which we paid extra but they were well worth it. The driver was great. He gave lots of information about the area. I have given it a five star, however I will say the entertainment wasn't so good I do realise though that the hotel is very small and have a limited budget for this service and because of this the staff have limited choice. Jason and his wife were on one night and they were brilliant all round entertainers. The other three nights were not so good. They would have been better if they interacted with the audience and also sang songs which were suitable for the age range of guests. It didn't spoil the holiday and we will certainly return.
Brilliant staff ! Lovely food ! well stocked bar. what more can you ask I disagree with last reviewer. Yes Jason and Shirley were as as good as ever , but Rachel was superb ,got the audience going. The lad who did Elvis was also good when he left Elvis behind and played the Blues he was excellent Car parking is a bit of a challenge but you get used to it
First time at this hotel, won't be the last if one wants to see how a first class hotel should be run then this is the one to go to. The staff were friendly with great personality, kitchen staff excellent, manager's Lisa and Gemma were very professional. Entertainment Jason is one of the best acts I have seenRooms: 5/5
Hotel not prepared for our party of 45+. Ran out of various things. Initially food served cold. Staff had to work under pressure due to lack of staff, gas supply problems not their fault,Rooms: 3/5
Great place to stay if you want a base for visiting the Lakes. Bus and train station nearby. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Staff, friendly and helpful. Food, plain in a good way, well cooked and nicely presented. Plenty of choice. Nice little bar in the large lounge. Rooms spacious, comfortable bed. Plenty of room in the bathroom with a very good shower. Only drawback was the busy road at the back. Very noisy during the night but that's not the hotel's fault. Overall, tip top.
The hotel was a good hotel but not the same now that Fred has left .He was a genuine and interesting manRooms: 5/5
Had a lovely time all staff very friendly ,Gemma one of the waitress was excellent nothing was to much trouble made our holiday also bar staff very good but Leah was so chatty made us laugh & friendly & took drinks to peoples tables so helpful u have a good team at his hotel cheers Jackie & MarkRooms: 4/5
Well, I've just spent a night here at the County Hotel and I have to say, it was fine by me. Every member of staff was great. Access to the rooms really is easy, especially with the lift. The rooms are decorated very nicely and are quite modern. The bathroom was semi spacious, with a large shower enclosure which has a step up to enter. The beds were soft yet supportive and I loved the full pillows. The ONLY down side was that the fittings in the bathroom, namely the shower wand holder was loose and looked like it might fall off at any moment. Cleanliness was ok but a bit of bleach in the bathroom would help and a quick shampoo of the carpets would get rid of the spilled tea stain. All in all. Very Good.
Paula is really wonderful. It was our our mistake...We booked the wrong night. But amidst two full buses of travellers arriving, she greeted us warmly, booked us a room, and changed our reservation on travelocity. Kind, respectful and great sense of humor. Room was lovely. Big bathroom. Delicious breakfast.. We would stay again. Many thanks Paula and all!!
Don't pre order breakfast as you miss out on black pudding and hash browns and don't go down before 8.30 Nearby activities: Great town center to walk around
