A lovely delightful lunch we had on a weekend. The outdoor seats are all fully booked. We had a table in the conservatory area by the window which was a little warm. Service was prompt and attentive. We had the steak and battered haddock and chips. Both taste fantastic. Really love the food and would love to come back for another visit. Highly recommended.
Lovely setting by the river, pleasant staff, quick service however we ordered fish, chips and mushy peas, peas were stone cold and the fish had a translucent bits that looked as though it was under cooked, huge chunky chips were lovely. Also ordered the crab burger, very tasty, lots of french fries, a bit of salad would have been good and it would have looked better presented. Lovely burger though.
Lovely pub. By the river. Ultra dog friendly judging by my visit it’s probably obligatory to have a dog!! . Friendly staff, nice beers, super atmosphere. Food looks good but I didn’t have any. I think this pub was closed for a while but it is a super spot now
From the moment I walked through the door I could tell immediately the experience would be a good one. I was greeted by Elle who gave me a very warm welcome, professional and courteous, a sweet young lady indeed. She went the extra mile to accommodate giving me a great seat by the river just where I like to be the most. Moving on to the food… wow, absolutely blown away! The portion size was definitely a belly filler. Flavours well balanced with succulent meat and perfectly cooked vegetables. If you are a Yorkshire pudding lover then you will love these ones. Even the mint sauce was home made. Presentation gave the impression of a well trained chef and after eating, I can assure you the chef talents shines throughout his food. The establishment it’s self, is clean well decorated and has fantastic river side seating areas outside. Lastly… the toilets, this matters a lot to me, I can confirm they are clean and well maintained. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality and for a great meal. Quite obviously a very well run pub.
Can't get enough. Been numerous times since it reopened and is a real crowd pleaser. With car parking, attentive staff and a well thought-out menu. Great place for some afternoon food and drink by the river.
Lovely pub situated by the river past the cathedral. Good food and excellent atmosphere. Great place to stop at when walking around the grounds and river footpaths.
The new Red Lion is lovely, fab decor, great coffee and friendly and attentive staff. We sat outside by the river, looking across to the historuc Lollards Pit overlooked by the site of the Ketts Rebellion camp, such history to enjoy with a coffee. We had brunch today, it was fab! Smashed Avocado on sourdough with bacon and a poached egg was superb, perfect egg, quality bacon, my lady had the American style pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, they were so light and the bacon, again was great. Another pub found on route through the older quarter of Norwich around the Cathedral area. Sitting across from a very old bridge you cross the river and the pub is set back slightly but right next to the river. Friendly pub enjoy a pint of glass of gin and tonic as you wander the cobbled streets of Norwich taking in the old style property’s to he found here.
Have now been here a couple of times; previously in 2021 I like the Eton mess cheesecake, as the seeds on that are a great touch. Attentive but not pushy service. Clean toilets. Nice outside space all done up. New parking area v nice looking too. Top tip from then was and would still be to book by phone, not internet, and request a "proper" table, as the one time we booked online, we were offered a high table on bar stools with no back declined or a low table on cafe chairs - which was fine but uncomfortable by the end, and only marginally more comfortable than a primary school parents evening. I most recently visited April 2022, and the good things about this place from last year are still true now - good outside, good service, good access with the parking. Nice decor inside, and a good range of alcohol free beers for this visit, including an 0% Erdinger but it's £4.20! My constructive criticism/ feedback would be to the to chef/ menu designer. There isn't much at all on this menu for somebody trying to eat healthier, and nothing for a light lunch. The menu is really missing a salad bowl, particularly as we head into sunnier weather. I ordered the Veggie Grazing Board and the seasonal greens to try to achieve a "build your own salad" but it wasn't the most successful. My mother-in-law lives round the corner and would come in at lunch times if they did jacket potatoes. I do feel they are missing a trick by not having lighter options.
This is a lovely Riverside pub and restaurant. A short walk from Norwich Station, Cathedral and City centre. Good selection of beers and ciders. Lunchtime food, none too shabby either. Buzzing atmosphere today with the rugby on.
