Nice station that is busy most of the time there are two lifts from the ticket hall area to the bottom of the station then there is stairs to both platforms. Currently there is only 1 lift working. There is 123 steps from the ticket hall to the bottom of the station its a long way down & up. This station is clean & tidy with regular Central line trains from here.
Pretty standard Central Line station opposite Hyde Park. There are lifts most of the way down, but it's not fully accessible as there are then stairs to the platform.
With just two lifts this old station gets busy, all the British rules apply in the lifts... You must not speak to anyone and you look out the little windows on the doors. You internally laugh at the person thinking pushing the lift buttons and pile into the lift as if it can hold hundreds.nnSeriously though it had a great atmosphere of times gone by, a station that feels exciting to be in London.
Very few tube stations warrant of 5 star rating and this is no exception. Closest to Kensington Palace, this deep station requires use of the lifts or very tough calf muscles, there are over 100 stairs for the mega fit to try. As normal, virtually no seating for waiting passengers but at least the trains are frequent. Busy in the middle section of the Central line but lighter footfall at either end. Great for getting through the middle of London.
Huge queues at the lift to get out or you can just climb 100 stairs instead. Disgusting
