Lovely food and super service. We’ve 8 of us just enjoyed a lovely lunch, everyone enjoyed the food and the staff were superb. I had the Dartmoor burger which was very flavoursome and came with a good portion of tasty chips. I also enjoyed the brownie which was amazing : This is the second time I’ve been and will definitely be going back.
beautiful restaurant just up feom the train station, great food and wine, i had a burger and my friend had seafood linguini, starters of mackerel and squid were perfectly cooked and the wine was excellent..highly reccomend
Was really looking forward to eating here. We ordered bread and oils. The bread was toasted which doesn’t go well with oils and balsamic at all! I can only presume they toasted the bread as it was going stale! The mains were the most disappointing! All mains were dry. I ordered extra chips and was given 6! The kids barely touched their meals as they said they were dry and tasteless! Such a shame, as the pub is in such a beautiful building and the staff are really friendly. They just desperately need to sort out their food!
Loved this pub. Took my dad out for Sunday lunch and they let him have a small portion. Staff very kind and looked after us well, food was delicious . Would definitely recommend but don't book it up, I want to go back!!!Food: 5/5
Food was lovely. Unfortunately service left alot to be desired. Offered dessert menu but after 35 minutes and the table next to us having their dessert order taken before us we decided to leave. Will look elsewhere next time.
Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Parking: we managed to find a space in the pub's own car park though there is plenty on the road outside. There are some decent outside areas which ar the moment might only be for drinking. Once in the pub via the main entrance we were quickly seated and a drinks order was taken. First impressions: very clean, well.organised and a friendly, family atmosphere. The menu looked very appetising and we were sure we'd have a starter as well as a dessert either side of the main. We both went for fish cakes, then steaks. The mains in particular were absolutely delicious. For dessert I had the chocolate tart - it was the perfect end to this meal and afterwards we walked down to the waterside to round off a great evening at The Puffing Billy. Highly recommend!
I only gave 3 stars because the service was appalling! The food we had was lovely, sadly let down by poor service from staff! We sat with our empty plates on the table for at least an hour before someone daned to come and remove them! We weren't asked if we would like a dessert, and had to ask if we could see the dessert menu only for the waitress to reply in a very nasty tone that she would get the dessert menu when she had cleared the plates! Will seriously think twice about coming back to your pub!
We stumbled upon this fabulous pub last night. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Would thoroughly recommend. Well done The Puffing Billy!
We called today and were lucky enough to get a table, for what turned out to be the best roast dinner we have ever had in a pub/restaurant!. A big thank you to Callum who looked after us so well. If you haven't been to ghe Puffing Billy, you should. Great food and service.
Held a wake after a funeral. Venue is lovely, food was great and Sarah and the team were brilliant, making a difficult time hassle free. Would certainly highly recommend and will visit again undera more pleasurable time.Food: 5/5
