I had an accessible room that wasn't very accessible. Firstly the bathroom had a bath, I struggle to get in and out of a bath. The bath had no slip mat, and although there were grab rails they were on an odd place. Secondly the bed was very uncomfortable, and it was a normal double, not king size. Not suitable for 2 adults when one of them has to use special cushions to be comfortable. Consequently I got little sleep. Thirdly only 2 disabled parking spaces. Not enough for a hotel that size. Considering the cost for one night, you would also expect someone to be on the desk instead of having to ring a bell and stand and wait for someone to book you in. Saving grace was the staff were lovely and very welcoming.
Room cleanliness, room temperature and wifi issues. The room was the dirtiest hotel room that I have ever had the displeasure of staying in; the issues ranged from dust in every corner of the room, cobwebs on lampshades, spillages on furniture and woodwork that hadn't been wiped, cobwebs hanging from light fittings, dirty toilet and shower, no toilet brush, blood stained pillows and stained quilt that had simply had clean outer covers pulled over them. I have photographic proof of all of these issues. The room temperature was 27 degrees centigrade and it would only reduce very slowly over hours and therefore we couldn't sleep as it was far too hot. We were provided with only one bath towel and one hand towel for two people in a double room, and one coffee sachet, one Teabag and one cup each for two people. The wifi was constantly disconnecting and was unusable. This was a very expensive two night stay £191 in Decemberin a disgusting room and we were not even greeted with a smile st reception. I tried to report these issues to reception during our stay but could get no response on the telephone. I reported these issues with the front desk at checkout and gave the room number.
We’ve used premier inns for a long time now, preferring them over travellodge for quality and comfort. However, this is the first premier inn that has disappointed. First issue was the room, it was dated and needs an upgrade fixtures and fittings wise. It also looked like it needed painting. However, the worst part was that there was part of a chocolate wrapper under the vanity unit by the bed.nnThe next issue was there weren’t enough towels in the room only 1 bath towel for two of us.nnWe then did not get a good nights sleep as there was a false alert fire alarm in the morning and we couldn’t get back to sleep.nnFinally and worst of all was breakfast. They did not provide fresh bread. There was no white bread left when I when upto the stand and I asked for a fresh loaf. When the lady brought it out it was frozen!!!! People do not go to hotels and expect frozen bread, it should be fresh every day. To make matters worse the staff were quite abrupt when I said I wanted fresh bread, telling me I could toast it. That’s great for sandwiches!
It's a great place to stay, we didn't have interaction with the reception staff, but the breakfast and the staff were very accommodating.nOne drawback was the rooms don't have air-conditioning. They provide a fan, which was almost ineffectual, coupled with the 13 tog bed cover made sleeping difficult.
Edit: definitely 5* for service after the morning reception staff and chef. Minus 5* for the room. It’s like an oven with no way of cooling it.nnA good part of the room is lost due to sloping sides in the ceiling. Despite having no air conditioning the semi decent fan wasn’t working and a tower fan had been put into the room. When I went to reception to inquire if the fan was working I was told yes. After saying I couldn’t get it to work I was told if I brought it down from the second floor I’d be shown how to work it! It turned out it was broken. The receptionist eventually said she would check if there was one in the breakfast room which I was given. There’s no plug sockets near the bed and the usb charging port on one side has been pushed out so doesn’t work. A very poor experience and impression of premier inns which previously I have always been happy with as they are usually of a uniform standard. This room however is sadly lacking.
