After arriving at reception and discovering I had booked the wrong date! The lovely staff were brilliant. Sorted out a room, made up the extra bed and as my sister drinks tea like it’s going out of fashion, we were supplied with more than enough tea bags too. The rooms a bit dated but very clean and had all we needed. The restaurant/pub was great too. We will definitely be back. Thank you to Liz, the lovely lady on reception for sorting out my mistake so efficiently
Well, what can I say, the Highcliffe Hotel is quite possibly the most luxurious establishment I’ve ever had the pleasure of gracing with my presence. And yes, that does include the time I stayed in a Premier Inn near Milton Keynes, thank you very much for the stay.
This is a bit of an unfair rating for the Premier Inn itself as half the issue is with the restaurant attached. There were 4 in our party 2 adults and 2 children and when we got to our room we only had a double bed and a single, so had to change rooms. The staff were very good about it but it meant our room was not ready so they had to make it up while we were out. We were downstairs and there is no lift access, so it meant carrying all our bags down and then up 2 flights of stairs, whilst assisting our children on the stairs. It also meant that we couldn't bring our pushchair in. The room itself was standard PI but with 4 beds in it, it was a bit cramped, but fine for 2 nights. Breakfast at the restaurant next door was very slow, its buffet continental but unlimited order hot food. They dont take your hot food order quickly, it was at least 10 minutes after arrival both times and then another 10 minute wait for it to arrive. The food was nice, but the orange juice was not the nicest. A fairly good stay for a few nights but I wouldn't stay longer than that
Staff very friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable, the Aircon was very good. Excellent location for surrounding attractions. Will happily stay again when in the area.
I have stayed at several Premier Inns across the country, so I know what to expect. While some locations are clearly more pleasant than others, this Premier Inn in Highcliffe stands out as the worst and has led my partner to declare that this will be his last stay at a Premier Inn.nUpon arrival, the receptionist was friendly and checked us in quickly. However, when we entered our room, we were greeted by a strong odor reminiscent of body odor, while the bathroom had an unpleasant smell of urine.nOn our way out for dinner, we informed another receptionist about the odor. She kindly asked if she could check the room to see if there was anything she could do. When we returned from dinner, we enquired whether she had been able to investigate the smell. Unfortunately, she mentioned that she had sinus issues and couldn't really detect much.nOnce back in our room, we were met with a strong scent of bleach that masked the unpleasant odour, but once the bleach smell faded, the original stench returned just as potent as before. With a teenager in tow and the bed already made, we decided to endure just one night and keep the window open. The heater was so noisy that I thought the bathroom light had been left on, but it turned out to just be the heater/air conditioning unit.nOverall, the room appeared quite worn and would greatly benefit from a thorough cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.nWe would have reported these issues in the morning, but there was no one at the reception when we checked out.nIf all the rooms are as unpleasant as room 108, I highly recommend avoiding this Premier Inn until they upgrade their accommodations.
