Just a 2 minutes drive from our usually Reservoir parking spot, this is a lovely area. Free and plentiful parking and the choice of woodland or waterside walks. We did both. Roasting hot day so not much wildlife about. Was hoping to see a red squirrel. There are numerous benches to sit and admire the view or gulp down water like we did today. We noticed the cafe/pub nearby had a garden with picnic tables but it looked mega busy today - will try it out next time. I think we found our new go-to Sunday walk at Pow Hill.
Very nice place for a walk along the path, that goes around the reservoir. The water levels are very low at the moment. Hopefully it will gradually fill up over the next few months.
Lovely colours especially the bracken, it's so red this year. Had a walk up the steps and a great view but all of the paths have been closed off, anyways walked along to the dam and back was a nice walk. Mushrooms everywhere on the wet soft ground
Really nice place to come for a walk. Red squirrels in the area too. Quiet on an evening with a huge car park providing plenty of space. Part of the car park closes at 8pm, although not an issue as a smaller car park remains available. Free parking too! Good access to the reservoir Edge, and plenty of seating available on the footpaths.
Absolutely cracking walk around the end ofthe reservoir we never go too,,, why o why I'll never know. Free parking and loads & loads of little trails so we went exploring and it was better as it was empty..we went to were there was once water, theres clear evidence of stone structures..im always looking down and found what i think is a neolithic scraper then traces of fossils in rock..god knows how many ppl have walked past these objects
Ollie loved it, very misty day and quite wet but we stuck to the trails to avoid ground nesting birds and stayed away from any livestock, dogs should be kept on leads but as there was noone else around he had a bit of freedom, he is well trained to stay close even off lead. Anglers section was well sectioned and popular. My only reason to knock off a star was because there were 2 public waste bins that I could see and both were overflowing. It appeared this had now blown around the car park and I also noticed packets and an empty can of carling stashed in a Bush close to the car park area. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED RESCUE ME FROM THE CAR PARK WHEN MY NAIVETY GOT ME STUCK....OLLIE LOVED HIS WALK THOUGH. Walked round the whole reservoir today and even though there were some Road walking parts it was beautiful and well worth it.
Great little spot for country walks popular for dog walkers. Also popular for photographers as wide diversity of wildlife Inc. adders, lizards, red squirrels and lots of birds. Nice little cafe/bar nearby with glamping pods for those that fancy a short break in peaceful scenic surroundings.
Lovely place to visit and walk around the reservoir or this country park with all the changes of seeing a Red Squirrels
Some beautiful walks around the reservoir, nice play park for the kids, and a nice separate field to let the dogs off the lead to run about too
Great place to park for free, an amazing cafe, collect some rolled glass on the beach and visit the sea caves
