Beautiful old building in a nice setting with decent beer. Food is mediocre and that is being positive about it. Chicken Kiev had a soggy coating on it, BBQ vegie burger "thing" was mush in a bun, pizza was burnt on the bottom and disapointing. Would have said something to the "cook" but didn't think things would have improved and we quite frankly want to get out of there. I have eaten better food from roadside snack vans.
Proper pub! Stone floors, open fire. Very inviting on a cold winter night. Great home cooked food at reasonable prices and great beer too!Service: 5/5
So we had just spent a a few hours in the morning yomping on the Mendips. And now lunch beckoned, so we needed sustenance. We drove past the first pub which sadly was shut, meaning that our hungry bellies were ready for the next open place whatever it was like. Turns out thr next place was very good. Old world pub attractive building. But aside from this we were there for the food, and the food was good. Including real chips, burgers, pizza and light bites of varying types accompanied by a selection of, beers wines, and drinks that should cover most sins. Top tip, you must ask the barman what the coded message means on the beam by the bar.
A really lovely experience in delightful surroundings. Superb room with excellent facilities. Friendly staff and good food. Can definitely recommend. Rooms: The standard double room was a really good size with a large super king bed. The shower was a large walk in rain shower and everything was exceptionally clean. Delightful surroundings in attractive gardens. Food & drinks: Our evening meal was excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. The cooked breakfast was substantial and good, but it would have been even better if we had been offered cereals and fruit beforehand.
Had a lovely meal here. Polite staff and a really nice log fire to sit next to. All in all a very nice evening out at this pub.
Great pub, generous food portions and great quality cask ale and cider! Very friendly crowd!Service: 4/5
Classic countryside pub, very welcoming and great food. Have been a couple times after long walks in the surrounding areas and we are always looking forward to sitting down here and having a pint. Love that it is no frills, classic, wholesome pub food. The ham, egg and chips, ploughman's and beef roast are all top notch. Will continue to return here after our doggy walks!
A major part of a marvelous local community. I have always enjoyed every visit. I have never met an unhappy customer. NO GAMES MACHINES. A room for pool. Beautiful setting in the countryside. And Kate makes Marvelous FOOD. LOCALLY SOURCED. Totally unprocessed food like it should be.Rooms: 5/5
All good, ideal for Bristol Airport, comfortable, warm and a good breakfast in the morning. Parking area small. Door return broken on my room, so was a bit awkward getting in and out, otherwise 5*Rooms: 4/5
Great welcome at this country pub. They had a couple of Bristol beer factory beers on which were well kept and we had some very generous plates of pub food.
