A lovely new building crippled by a lack of funds. Staff are fantastic but there are far too few available. As a result waiting times are crazy long. From presenting at emergency I have twice seen delay before being in a bed on a ward of over 12 hours. I know this is subject to triage and urgency. But it is far from ideal. Staff are capable with the right support of doing so much more I'm sure. Once in a bed I've twice seen the 3 day delay from ordering a scan (MRI or CT) - day 1, getting the scan - day 2, getting a doctors review of scan - day 3. All at a cost of several hundred pounds a day for the bed.

I was prepped and ready for an operation but sent home as there were not enough staff to make up a theatre team, no beds in ressuss and no beds on the ward. The op was rescheduled for a month later and went OK: some great staff, some less than great staff. Dislike the policy of sending staff to bully you into leaving hospital saying "there's a 91 year old needs this bed," "your operation only takes a day or two to recover so you're going home today" just after I'd been sick all down myself as I was in too much pain to get myself out of bed to get help. I live alone. I don't know how the caring staff thrive under this kind of pressure.

Amazing staff - we were brought by ambulance with my seriously ill father and looked after amazingly well until he passed away from natural causes a few hours later. lots of people are complaining because they are unhappy, but few people post when they are satisfied. in the worst of circumstances, we could not have been treated better. made my dad's last few hours bearable. don't go if you have a headache - go to a walk-in clinic and avoid a 6 hour wait, but if its life or death, they will do a great job. i just wish those who do the most difficult jobs got paid more.

I'm giving this hospital more than the one star as I'm sure there are good staff somewhere within it who deserve recognition and they do help some people- but I cannot bring myself to raise it above 2 stars. The NHS is a really wonderful thing and I'm very grateful for it, many people do their best with far less funding than they really need to survive. However sadly I have only experienced disrespect, ignorance and rudeness from staff at Pinderfields however. Went for an EEG and was treated like a time waster until the health professional looked at the screen after her coffee break and her attitude completely changed to nice (so I knew there was something odd on the results). In the cafe I left my elderly mother for 1 minute as I needed to fetch something, to return to see nurses rolling their eyes and laughing at her for getting confused (she was unwell at the time) - it sickened me that these were people who should have compassion.
