My wife and I had a fantastic two night stay here, booked at very short notice. The welcome from the owner Sarah was both warm and sincere and we instantly knew we had made a great choice. The breakfasts really are delicious and do make sure you BOOK DIRECT with them to get breakfast included! Sarah and Ian along with all the staff we were fortunate enough to meet were a real credit, thank you all. If we come back to Rye, it would be to stay with you again for sure.
Just popped in for a spot of lunch hence the scores for the rooms. Situated right on The Strand at the bottom of Mermaid Street the Old Borough Arms serves as a guest house, cafe for lunch/breakfast and even has an ice cream parlour downstairs. But what makes this place is the quality of the service...we were so well looked after by our host. For the eagle eyed amongst you, you will also note that the place has been in an episode of Black Mirror!!
Had a really lovely stay in this beautiful place. Ideally situated, cosy, historic and the BEST breakfast! Make sure you book direct with them The host was super welcoming and extremely helpful. I will be back!Rooms: 5/5
We stayed for two nights for a pre Xmas friend's get together, the accommodation was clean warm and comfortable with a great breakfast and lunch menu. The owners were lovely and run this establishment with passion and enthusiasm. Location is central with a good selection of dinning venues within walking distance.i would highly recommend this B&B.
Wonderful stay in the 3 bed apartment, the most comfortable beds and pillows, very clean and cosy stay. Breakfast the following morning was very good and the location is perfect for exploring Rye. Thank youRooms: 5/5
We stayed here for one night over a weekend in October, following a mess-up with the hotel in Rye that we had originally booked. The team here were so kind and welcoming, our room was comfortable and in a great location and we had a lovely breakfast to top it all off. We will definitely be coming back and staying here next time we are in Rye.
Great location and lovely people. The rooms can be a little noisy but that's the price of being so centrally located. Rooms are fine, nothing fancy, but clean and tidy. Shower pressure wasn't great, but the shower was a good size. I would stay here again. The Mermaid cafe downstairs was very handy for a good breakfast and the staff again were lovely.
We stayed for two night. Reasonable rates with a freshly cooked breakfast included. The staff are welcoming, friendly & helpful. The rooms are clean with a spacious on suite bathroom. The large king sized bed was so comfortable with good quality bed linen. Great location. Would highly recommend to anyone. Food & drinks: Good quality food served. Has a lovely balcony with good views.
Follow Mr & Mrs R on TikTok. My wife and I enjoyed our June weekend at the old Borough Arms. Lovely listed building with loads of character. We thought it was a bit expensive for the standard of the rooms. Another couple with us on the lower floor complained there Great location for visiting Rye. Arrival is awkward though as there is no parking and you have to unload your luggage into the street while stoped on double yellow lines. This is not the owners fault, it’s the local council who enforce the rules. The owners are friendly and try to be as helpful as they can.
Just went to the old Borough arms for lunch after getting recommendations to go and sit on the beautiful terrace and have a crab sandwich. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. The terrace is wonderful, the view stunning, the staff absolutely fantastic and the crab sandwich was the best crab I have ever eaten. It was fresh, full of flavour, generous portion and absolutely delicious. Get yourself to the Borough arms, sit on that wonderful terrace and order the crab sandwich. If I was not soo full I would have got two!!! Definitely coming back later for a second round. Food & drinks: The food here is absolutely wonderful, fresh, great price, just the right size portions you won’t leave hungry, superb local ingredients the Dungeness crab is outstanding and taste delicious. Highly recommend the crab sandwich, you will not be disappointed. Can’t wait for round two. The staff are fabulous. Best place I have been whilst in Rye and already planning my next trip back. Get yourselves down here!!!!
