Coming from someone that never seeks medical help, unless really concerned, i really want to say, the staff and care i received today, was truly amazing. Believing that i may have been having an Heart Attack, everyone was fantastic, I felt so much better from the receptionist, to the Doctor who was the last person to see me. You're all a credit to your Profession. Cant thank you all enough. xxx
After suffering a cardiac arrest a month ago and spending 9 days in intensive care plus another two weeks on a ward, I owe the staff here my life and words are not enough. I have gone from being unable to speak or eat for myself to being back at home as normal with full brain function in 4 weeks, fantastic staff who are truly dedicated and do a fantastic job.
A few nights ago, the ambulance brought my 16-year-old daughter here due to an excessive infection, and unfortunately, we waited from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., that is, for 9 hours, for her to be examined by a doctor, and unfortunately, the service in this hospital is very bad. and while I was waiting, we asked the staff there several times how long we should wait, but unfortunately they gave us irrelevant answers every time until the doctor examined my daughter at 8 am and told us, I don't know why you are waiting so long. They have delayed here and this caring doctor referred us to hallamshire hospital, where due to excessive infection, my daughter was only injected with antibiotics. After 2 days of hospitalization, they told us that you should take your daughter to the hospital for surgery after 2 weeks. Bring it and if the treatment was done earlier, the case would never have reached here and we are never satisfied with the Northern General Hospital Accident and Emergency Department, and maybe because we were not English, they treated us like that.
This place is the faulty towers of hospitals and the review reflects the management not the actual nurses or doctors that looked after me. 5 hours in a and e 3 hours waiting on a recovery bed in the holding area for a ward bed 6 hour delay getting CT scans 25 hours from having the operation until finding out the outcome from surgeons because they were too busy 11 hour waiting period from being told you’re going home, then to be told you’re not because there is no one to make up your meds or discharge papers. Absolutely disgraceful management. It’s clear to see why all Sheffield hospitals CQC reports fall under inadequate or requires improvements.
Auxiliary staff very rude and abrupt because I reported I was leaving mom who has severe dementia to the wrong team. If I worked there or was a regular visitor I would not have made that mistake. As neither of those things apply a little civility and kindness would have gone a long way to making a worrying and stressful day bearable
Today i have taken a friend to the Eye imaging hub we first went to Hallamshire to be told moved to the general on getting to the main entrance we where given directions to the wrong department so another map and a walk to find the right place we came to a fence so we looked for someone to direct us eventually finding the lady that used to work in the building before it was converted to the eye imaging up why there is no sign of Job. I haven’t got a clue we didn’t see a sign anti-war nearly on top of the building. We were late for the appointment. We were lucky with the staff so my friend because I could’ve refused. This is what cost the NHS money because people cannot find the department. They are looking for a very frustrating afternoon from arriving an hour early for an appointment to get in there 3/ quarters of an hour late.
Parking is a joke. Missed my appointment because I was 15mins late. Arrived with plenty of time for my appointment but after trying every carpark most had people waiting to park had to park 10mims walk away outside hospital. Forced to drive because they have removed busses to my village to cut costs, so public transport not an option. Wasted appointments cost the NHS
Partners Operation 13 December 2022 due out 7 -10 days christmas due to numerous infections picked up in hospital still in 23rd January 2023 ps just picked up another in isolation now visitors do not have to wear masks I always wear one no wonder NHS is in a state do they deserve sympathy?
The only reason why I give it 1* is I had to wait 6 hours. Shocking and still didn’t get seen. I went in with my full left face feeling numb. It’s highly scary when you’re in with such a fatal symptom. Staff are amazing though but the wait is horrendous.
I try avoid going to the hospital as much as possible for inconveniences, but needed a surgery doing and was made to feel very comfortable by the lovely team of ladies at the urology department. Only caught one of their names Marriane was great at creating humour in a nerve racking situation! Was treated with dignity and empathy - appreciate the hard work!!!
