Story

Overlooking the river Avon on the edge of Shakespeare’s Stratford, Charlecote Park has been part of this corner of rural Warwickshire for centuries. Still the Lucy family home after 900 years, you can explore the vision of the Victorian owners George Hammond Lucy and his wife, the formidable Mary Elizabeth, who extended their home and filled it with treasures from their European travels.

Been to Charlecote several times being local to us. Always enjoy our visits with plenty of grounds to explore and the beautiful house to look around. Very picturesque with the River Avon running through the park, St. Leonards Church and the deer that roam around provide plenty of photo opportunities.

Nice place to walk, house is nice to look around with plenty to see. The café serves nice food. Free to get in if you have National Trust membership. Car park is only issue as you have to cross the road with no proper crossing.

Friendly and helpful staff. And a lovely place to have a walk. Good paths that are pushchair/wheelchair friendly even when wet.

As one of our 'local' NT sites we visit here regularly in all weathers/times of year. The deer fascinate the eldest, and there are plenty of photo opportunities. With gentle buggy accessible walks (although muddy in winter) around the grounds ideal for toddlers. Can get very busy on sunny days (especially the cafe), beautiful spots for picnics by the river.

Fantastic house gardens and more. For long and short walks it is a really good place to visit. The only thing I would say it's a small distance from the car park to the house and there is no proper crossing on the road. Lovely views and lots more
