This place is kind of eerie. There’s a terrible smell in the police and prison area, which pervades out through the museum. I haven’t been since they refurbished the cafe but last time we went the cafe was like something from two decades ago: all instant drinks and long-life cake. The garage area with all the vehicles to climb in is lots of fun for the kids, but then there are other bits that are a little unnerving, like the reconstruction of the road accident. In short, this place is great if you go with a fire engine obsessed toddler, who just sees what he wants to see. But, if you go with older kids, they may be rather less keen.

What a great find. We came here as my wife's choice for a day out for mother's day. The staff here ( who I understand are volunteers) are wonderful and the museum itself is really interesting. It certainly isn't state of the art, but this is one of its greatest charms. We certainly will be visiting again. This would be a great place to bring people from over seas as it shows the history of our emergency services in a very British way. If I had any criticism, it would be that some of the vehicles could have more information, but this is a minor detail, especially when remembering that this place is run volunteers on a charitable budget. 5 stars from me.

Loved it! So much fun... And I'm a grown up. Really good time. Lots to learn and play with. Buy a ticket and it lasts for a year. Going back, no question.

A great museum with lots of hands on stuff. Weekend rides on a fire engine is worth the extra payment. Wrap up warm as there is a lot to see outside of which lots is undercover.

I enjoyed it as much as my grand daughter She loved being a detective looking for answers to clues and she liked climbing onto the emergency vehicles. We will be back for sure.
