Brodsworth Hall and Gardens

Story

Time really does stand still at Brodsworth Hall, one of the most unusual visitor attractions in South Yorkshire.

Inside this beautiful Victorian country house almost everything has been left exactly as it was when it was still a family home. Possessions that took more than 130 years to gather together, from the grandest piece of furniture to family mementoes and humble domestic items, are still in their original places.

Meanwhile the beautiful grounds, a collection of grand gardens in miniature, have been restored to their full Victorian splendour, and feature a colourful array of seasonal displays.

With its new children’s play area, Brodsworth Hall is the ideal choice for a family day out in Doncaster.

Really enjoyed my visit. The house was fascinating, but not too large so you could maintain interest throughout. The gardens are lovely too. We went at the end of a March so not many flowers in bloom, but we were fortunate to see a bit of sun. The hedges are magnificent and so beautifully maintained. I enjoyed my goats cheese & roasted vegetables sandwich. I also enjoyed my free sample of sloe gin!!

Absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. Once you walk in here it’s like you are in the magical Alice in wonderland dreamworld. Beautiful trees, pavement, structure, all magically placed in art form. I have to say the staff thoughtfulness and service was extraordinary. Made my day! Thank you. Parking is huge too, can take up to 40-50cars. Make sure you enter through the correct entrance. Google maps brought me to one with a private residence on the left and a sign that says church, if you go in that path, it is only a dead end path where you will end up stuck in a cemetery. Instead, enter only through the church lane road.

One of the best English Heritage sites I've visited. The 11h00 (or 12noon) guided tour was the highlight of our visit. 40 minutes of history - sometimes humourous sometimes mind boggling. Was unable to stay for the afternoon "free flow" into other parts of the hall. Was rather wet during our visit so will wander through the gardens next time.

Lovely place to take the kids. Plenty to walk around, and a great adventure playground. Cafe does great hot drinks and food, but also provide an outdoor picnic area. Really beautiful place.

My first visit ever and I will be going back to visit again. My friends had suggested the visit. Amazing gardens and such a beautiful house. Might even be tempted to join English Heritage.
