Room was immaculate, clean and spacious. Shower was amazing, rainfall shower or regular were both available. Water pressure was very good. Staff were pleasant. Was here for a work Christmas party and the party tent was beautiful. Food was really delicious and the staff were so helpful. Breakfast the next day was brilliant. Would recommend.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms were a great size, huge bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space if ever needed. I had a room on the first floor and there were signs of previous water ingress from the roof, one of the stairwells had a damp smell to it, but could not smell it in the room I had. The shower was good and the towels were a good size too. I had an evening meal which was really tasty and not expensive. Breakfast in the morning was really good too.
My wife and I booked a privilege room with dinner bed and breakfast through secret escapes. When we arrived at the hotel we where seen at reception promptly and given our room key. Whilst walking to our room all of the emergency exits where open allowing the cold air to pass through the corridors and there was an over powering smell of damp. When we reached the staircase it was evident there was a leak of some kind, there was an ice bucket on the floor half full with water and the carpet halfway up the stairs was saturated to the point it squelched under foot. When we got to our room 257 the room was cold and unwelcoming, no fridge or robes as advertised on the itinerary, we called reception and where promptly moved, thankfully. We went into another room, 259, which we where advised was a privilege room and we did have robes but still no fridge but with two cans of room temperature Pepsi max and a can of still & sparkling water. The bathroom was very dated and there where rust marks in the bath and water was coming out of the overflow into the bath which can’t be sanitary. It was a cold evening and the room was equally as cold and the heating didn’t seem to work it was just blowing cold air into the room. When we went down for dinner there was no direction from any staff members I had to go to the bar area and ask how to order food. When ordering the food I wasn’t advised there where certain items that where not available, peppercorn sauce and vanilla ice cream being the two items not available, this may seem trivial but when you order steak and ask for peppercorn sauce when placing the order you’d expect it to be highlighted there was none available, when desert came and there was no vanilla ice cream we where offered chocolate ice cream with pecan pie, two things that don’t even go together not even custard was offered. Breakfast was a lot better there was clear direction from the staff we where sat down promptly and advised of where all the food and cutlery where. Great service from the breakfast staff. I feel like this hotel could be a great place but the simple things where overlooked. I understand there where weddings and another event at the hotel but I would fully expect the hotel to be sufficiently stocked and staffed to keep up with these demands. Otherwise why take the booking costing us £129 and we got a very poor level of service other then at breakfast. I look forward to what the hotel have to say as I have already contacted secret escapes.
Rooms and general areas were all cold. Only the meeting room we were in seemed to have a working heater. Breakfast was average, less choice than i would normally expect, i.e. only scrambled eggs on offer. food quality was good though. Restaurant was also not really a restaurant just a cordoned off area and had no tables available because loads of groups of two were sat on tables for four or more.
Good for a business trip. Very spacious and clean room. Breakfast should be included at this price, its nice but not luxury. No biscuits or hot chocolate with the coffee and tea small details I know but if you want 5 stars from me it only takes chocolate and biscuits. Update - 1 hour after posting the original review the service from guest relations was exceptional, went the extra mile to ensure my stay here will be very memorable. So I have upgraded review from 4 to 5 *. Thank you.
Currently booked 2 rooms for myself & husband and the other for my 2 kids. The heating is not working so the rooms are very cold. We have requested to be changed but there are no rooms. We have been offered 2 mobile heaters. The question is. Did anyone actually test the heating in these rooms if they are actually working before the the next guests?obviously not!! We are booked for 2 nights. We are planning on cutting our stay. Happy to revisit this review of our experience improve
The staff were excellent, especially Michelle on reception who was just amazing. We had an issue regarding heating in the room. Michele brought heaters to the room and checked that it was working. To be honest from the absolute check In Michele and her staff couldn't do enough, and all the staff just couldn't do enough for us. In fact the bar staff and restaurant staff have been friendly and couldn't ask for more. Thanks to all the staff for everything.
Thus is excellent hotel. Fantastic service. Kind staff.. Great drinks and coffee is excellent... What more ca. We say. Easy to park. I'd highly recommend this hotel Jennifer Stevens
Had a afternoon tea/Spa. Spa facilities whilst adequate are in need of some updating/ redecoration and deep cleaning. The afternoon tea was nice good size pot of coffee but the small cakes were just Mr Kiplings. Would have been nice if there was a homemade element. But for the price it was adequateRooms: 1/5
The Mercure Haydock is overall a good hotel. The lobby is one of the most comfortable to sit around , read and drink especially as I visit for work, the afternoon tea is really special just as good as some much higher rated hotels. I always upgrade to a privilege room, very spacious with warm and homely decor, coffee machine and a large bed. The only aspect that the hotel need to address is the heating system, this is s a blow air type of system , it just does not work, I was offered a blow heater which did the job however the cost to the hotel and environment must be astronomical , the hotel need to fix this ongoing problem.
