About

McDonald Vets Scotstoun is a beautiful, friendly Vet Surgery with long roots in the local area. We offer a traditional Glasgow Veterinary ethos with all the facilities to provide, if appropraite the most up to date treatment!

Story

McDonald Veterinary Surgery was founded by Stuart and Mary McDonald in 1967, opening a second surgery on Dumbarton Road in 1976. The surgeries have been providing peace of mind to pet owners and great Glasgow veterinary care to their pets since then.

After his very many years of dedicated service to Glasgow's pets Stuart decided to retire in May 2012. He sought and found the perfect vets to carry on his good work. Vets with the same excellent level of veterinary care and firm belief in affordable, honest, caring Veterinary treatment all delivered in a veryGlasgow style.

Oliver Jackson, Ross Allan and Ivor Lough are all graduates of Glasgow University Veterinary School in Bearsden. They have a wealth of experience having provided Glasgow's pets with fantastic veterinary care for a great many years. They have a clear plan; to maintain Glasgow's great history of excellent quality and affordable pet health care at the corner of your street.

A family of veterinary practices means that they can tap into specific expertise of individual vets and can make the most modern veterinary equipment affordable by sharing between practices. You can find out more about Oliver, Ross and Ivor and their surgeries at www.petsnvets.org

The staff are all kind and caring, both in person and over the phone. They saw my cat at very short notice in an emergency and liaised well with the small animal hospital when he needed transferred there. I order a prescription from them and they're always efficient!
Had my adorable house cat Misty for her check up this morning. Misty and I were warmly welcome, Misty is reluctant to begin with, but calm with the lovely vet, who is really patient and understanding, it was a very appreciated consultation and we both left extremely at ease, what a great bunch of people, manners are impeccable. I would highly recommend anyone to take their pet there without hesitation. Thank you for your understanding and great experience.
Customer service with telephonist Joanne was RUDE with dealing with query! Pay for monthly deal and should be covered for 12 month of nexgard but because dog was wasn’t well and never took tablet through dinner am told I have pay for extra tablet. Even though website states covered for 12 month and doesn’t state it’s only 12 pills over the year
We've been using this practice and their other one in Queen Margaret Drive G20 for several years now with multiple dogs and can't recommend highly enough. First class service from arranging an appointment through visit and any aftercare required. Friendly and experienced staff who really care for our pets' comfort and wellbeing. Thanks as always x
Very helpful and friendly. It puts my mind at rest knowing that they are there to help my little hedgehog Sprinkles.
I have never had any problems coming here and find the staff very caring and helpful. The girls are very good with my cat Smudge who I would say is a bit of a problem coming to the vet. She is an indoor cat and the only time she is out is when I take her to the vet so she gets very stressed and growls and hisses but the girls know her and they are always prepared for her. The surgery is bright and very clean and sterile. I would not take my cat anywhere else. My daughter also is registered with her cat.
Wonderful, sympathetic team. My cat had a small surgery and I felt he was in caring hands. I received the reassuring phonecall once the surgery was finished and had a plenty of time to arrange the pick up. The post op consultation is offered for free and I am now getting a second one in my local branch at Queen Margaret Drive. Thank you!!!
Got a lot of dental work done here for my rescues teeth, on their recommendation of course. Initially I was happy with the service. Since then I have come back for his check ups, all fine, but then by a few months later I thought something wasnt right so took him back. The girl that took us wasnt the same girl as before and looked at his mouth for all of 4 seconds before declaring there was nothing wrong. No follow up information or advice despite the change in behaviours that I'd mentioned to her, just charged £30 for that after all other payments obviously. I just trusted her and assumed I must have been wrong. Months go by and now he's waking up through the night whimpering along with all the other behavioural changes I'd mentioned to the girl previously so I messaged them on the app. They got back to me really quickly the next morning but were totally unsympathetic to what I had told them. Not even an apology just went on about how everyone else is happy with the service and felt the need to mention that they were one of the only vets open just now because of the virus obviously- so basically like it or lump it. Really not what I expected from this business at all, I'm thoroughly disappointed.
Spotless and airy waiting room, seldom busy because of appointment system. Some vets have a specialist knowledge about certain animals, which gives me confidence that my pet is in good hands. Its not always easy to get parked outside, but the parked cars don't tend to stay long, so allow a little extra time for this.
