I purchased a Volvo V40 R Design from McDonagh Motor Company in February, up to the present I've had no problems with it and the car is stunning. I did have some trouble with the company not paying the settlement fee of my car that I traded in, which went on for 6 months affecting my credit score and my sanity. But having spoken to Andrew the owner of the company, he sorted the payment out over the phone within 10 minutes, something his staff seemed to struggle with on previous phone calls
Update - So I've had my car for just over a year now. It had supposed to have had all faults fixed during the mot. When I first got the car I drove it to my dad's, flicked the windscreen washer on and the wipers stuck in position. Took it back immediately to be told by the mot guy it was the wiper motor which should've been fixed anyway 4 hours later I got it back. So a year later I expect the car to sail through an mot. All of the original faults with the exception of the wiper motor that were supposed to have been fixed when I bought the car still existed. Headlamp alignment was pretty much none existent, main beam didn't work in one headlamp, exhaust system insecure. Also both front and rear suspension were shot. They either know about the people doing the mot's aren't doing them properly or they need to change who they send the cars to. Cost over £400 to fix. Disgraceful! Original review - I had zero expectations due to a very limited budget. I was put at ease straight away and was told they would do anything they could to help which they certainly did. Very professional and friendly, the only car dealer I've ever been to that don't try and sell you unnecessary rubbish that you don't want or need. I couldn't believe the whole process took around 30-45 mins and I had the paper's signed. Just waiting for the mot etc to be done and I can go pick it up and the 2 year warranty was a surprise as most only offer 1 year. Thanks again for helping me out I very much appreciate it.
A great variety of cars at amazing prices. I found it hard to choose! Excellent customer service from all staff who made buying my first car a very pleasant and easy experience, not to mention how quickly I had my gorgeous new car delivered to my home. Naheem was very friendly and helpful. They certainly go over and beyond to ensure a very happy customer at McDonnagh Motor Company. I can not recommend enough. Thank you!
If i could give 0 stars i would, absolute sham of a company have had this car since april and i have already forked out over 400 pound on repairs ! First repair was my exhaust which fell off after 2 weeks of having the car! Told me that i would have to bring the car back to Stockton on tees and i live in blackpool told them the car wouldnt make it so they advised to do repair in blackpool and send the invoice over and then they would refund me, well this never happened ! After ringing every day for 3 months and always getting promised for a call back and for my money to be in my bank after confirming bank details still never turned up, i gave up. Richard and his team are a bunch of knobs! Absolute con artists all of them, have had this car in the garage so many times since having it im now in the process of getting my solicitor involved and speaking tk the finance company to see if i can get a new vehicle. Claims to be services and MOT'ed but i highly doubt this as no service history was given to me and my brakes needed to be bled! PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! They are nothing but scammers and fraudsters who just want your money and are full of empty promises.
I recently bought a Peugeot 208 from mcdonagh motor company.was promised the car would be delivered to my home address which was, however the finance payments which I was also promised and are also advertised on the websites main page where not payed out. Not only have I spoken to Richard on the phone every day for a week trying to get this payment resolved, he has done nothing but fob me off telling me the payment should have been made, clearly knowing there is no intention of making that payment.This is a case of mis selling and false advertising. I would recommend people look elsewhere before choosing this dealership to buy a new car with.
Be vigilant when buying a car from here! Bring someone with you who knows about cars really well, as mine was in terrible condition but I didn’t know any different. Make sure you actually get the 12 month MOT they ‘claim’ to give every car they sell, I can’t stress this enough as this is not always the case and definitely wasn’t with me. I feel that because I’m a young female I’ve been taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge about cars... There is a lovely bypass you can use to avoid the garage at all costs xxx
This company hides behind their own reviews of themselves and that as a small business they are somehow immune from acting professionally. They tell bare faced lies and reneig on deposits held for a test drive. The car my daughter left a fully refundable deposit on was dirty and had a serious lack of performance.on return from test drive we declined to purchase and were told that we could get the deposit back on monday..that was several months ago..McDonagh have responded by try to get us to feel sorry for them! and that we have cost them a sale as we did not buy the broken dirty car and they may have lost a sale to some other mug who didnt mind driving a dirty underperforming vehicle
AVOID THIS COMPANY - NO 1 YEAR MOT, NO DELIVERY INSPECTION My partner Adam bought a car from this company. Richard couldn’t be nicer until you have purchased the car from him and then he can’t be bothered dealing with anything. The car was delivered up to Scotland COVERED in mould in the inside, absolute disgrace. Phoned Richard and was told to get a full valet and he would pay for it. Car was also delivered with front tyre bald below legal limit again phoned again was told to get a new tyre. Sent receipts for both these transactions - £110 nearly 2 months later and we STILL don’t have this money. They claimed they had received wrong bank details. We had to contact finance company to chase up dealership. Via email with finance company CC’d we confirmed receipts and correct bank details once again. Over a month later and still no money received. Richard always says he is chasing this up but never has an answer. The car also never came with a 1 year MOT as stated on website. They claimed it was mot’d the week before it came to us but it has not had an mot for over 6 months. Everything they say is a lie! We are now proceeding with court action against this company as we are sick of waiting for our money. Unfortunately for them we have more than enough evidence to prove everything they have done wrong. They will always make excuses for these bad reviews and say they aren’t real but not to worry I will be posting the evidence everywhere! Convenient that you can’t leave reviews on their Facebook page! Anyone who turns reviews off has something to hide
**edited as cannot reply to the response from the business You categorically did NOT advise me that the deposit was non-refundable. I have proof that you told me I would get my money back. You are liars trying to cover your arses and look more favourable : I did NOT call a week later to cancel the sale. I decided on the day that I would not be purchasing it and have phone records and my father as a witness to support that I cancelled there and then and was told to ring Naheem on Monday to get my money back as it was 100% refundable. Furthermore, the person I spoke to told me that no one had been to see the car that day. I've accepted I'm not getting it back but others should be warned that you are liars.** Not possible to leave a lower review. On the 20th of February I left a deposit on a car which I was told was refundable if I chose not to purchase it when I came to view it the following Saturday. When we arrived at the warehouse in an industrial estate to test drive the car which I had paid 100 of my hard earned pounds to ensure no one else purchased, the car was found not to be satisfactory and I didn't want to purchase it - the engine did not seem to be performing as it should. I say this as I had driven and now own the exact same model of car and the example in question felt flat and didn't have the pulling power that a turbocharged engine should. I was told by the salesman that the next week I would have my money back. Long story short, after upwards of 40 phone calls to this company and 3 months of waiting I still haven't had my money back. Instead I have been fobbed off, lied to on several occasions and in essence stolen from. I have evidence to prove that my deposit was refundable and evidence that is company policy to refund deposits if a purchase does not go ahead. As a last ditch attempt I messaged their Facebook page and was advised that it would be refunded. I gave my bank account details for the god knows how many time. A week later, no money in my bank account and my messages are now being ignored by the page. I have been told by an employee of this company that I "shouldn't have left a deposit as it causes costs to the company to readvertise the vehicle". My question is why on earth would your deposits be refundable then? Absolutely appalling service. I've been robbed and I do not recommend this company in the slightest. I tried to leave a review on Facebook but low and behold you can't post on their wall. Disgusting crooks have robbed a young woman. Do not buy from them. Would post the screenshot evidence I have if it were possible.
If I could give zero stars I would totally rip off merchants, car I went To see was a different coloured panels and strange noises coming from the engine for a 2 year old car! Would not refund deposit. Apparently on their system it takes 5 days to take the car off sale, funny how other garages can take it off right away! Go elsewhere where you can trust the sales guys. Car had front panel lifted off when it shouldn’t have been more!
