This supermarket, located near my residence at Warrender Park Terrace, has consistently ranked as one of the best in the area. I have been a patron of this establishment for the past four years and have witnessed its transformation from Margiotta to Margiotta Waitrose and Partners. It remains well-stocked and offers a wide variety of grocery items. I highly recommend paying a visit and exploring the store. My only suggestion for improvement would be to ensure more frequent restocking of bottled milk with the blue/green seal, as I often encounter difficulties in procuring it. While the majority of the staff members are warm and welcoming, there is one individual who does not exhibit the same level of kindness. I have had several encounters with this particular staff member, and I hope that he can improve his customer service skills and demeanor.
Absolute chancers. Went to buy a drink. Shelf price £2.49. Scans at £2.59. Only 10p but still illegal. Hope their 10p scam trick brings them nothing but bankruptcy. Will drop a message to trading standards to let them know, too. Edit after response: this is not the first time it’s happened. My son had the same issue at your Mayfield Road branch. Either cheats or incompetent. Either way, poor show.
Poorly stocked, items frequently run out, staff are hit and miss. Waitrose it ain’t.
50p mark-up or so on everything compared to the big stores. But. Still very very good as a wee local store. I get sourdough bread here, rye bread, decent Irish butter, tinned fish, lovely ham.. great little lunch options. Cold meats, veggie cartons of delicious goodies, some frozen stuff, loads of dry goods. Fresh fruit and veg pretty good too. They had Scottish strawberry punnets recently for £1- such a bargain and really fresh still. Then there's a good choice of daily papers and magazines too. Pay by cash or card.. spatial distancing, sort of, limit on how many in the shop at any time. Parking difficult outside but that's CEC for you- making it impossible to shop in the city. They had double yellow parking lines in the bay beside the shop but i think someone must have made them erase these as utterly unreasonable which they were.
I'm never going back here. I find the fruit and veg oftem "over ripe". Ready-meal packs on display at, or beyond, best-before dates. The casual staff helpful and friendly but at least one supervisor was agitated and disrespectectful.
I remember this shop from when I lived almost next door to it, over twenty years ago. Now I’ve been back, and it’s still just as good. If you despise good music and good food, avoid. Otherwise this is a great place, selling lots of interesting types of food and brands you wouldn’t normally get in a standard corner shop. It may not be the cheapest shop ever, but it doesn’t have the advantage of billions of pounds of annual turnover purchasing power to drive prices down. All this and and it’s open till 10pm!
Not even a single vegan ready meal available. What a shame. This is a reply to your reply: Instead, yes, there is a need. And if there was a chance to put zero stars, I would have done it, as it's a shame you don't even have a vegan ready meal. We're in 2023, and actually, it's easier to find healthy and vegan food in supermarkets than to you when it's supposed you should have more healthy food. A while ago, you had a vegan ready meal. Now you have nothing at all. So what's the point? Instead of getting better, you get worse. Yeah, I've asked both people working inside, and they said we've nothing vegan. That's it.
Terrible I bought an ice cream on Friday 05 :05 : 2023. Only to get it home and the date on the back said 30:04: 2023-best before . Apart from that the staff are bored foreign students and the miserable manager looks likes she's been handed a jail sentence for owning a cafe in the same area prior rather then a new opportunity . Terrible shop with poor stock rotation and unfriendly at a high price.
I usually shop here rather than Co-op or Sainsbury because the layout is more attractive and classical music plays all the time which relaxes me. They also sell different and more interesting produce not available in other shops. They also sell low priced Co-Op branded items which keeps costs down.
It's my local store but really wish it wasn't.... the products are the same as in ASDA and for three times the price and the local bakery items are overpriced. That said, it's the staff that spoil the shop... not all, not many but just one and she's always there. Never a smile, always a grump and a terrible experience in store. I try to laugh way through the exchange but it's so painful I'm staggered i go back in.
