This is a lovely park however the council decided to place a fence on the grounds and exclude dogs to a certain area. Unfortunately due to having to use a wheelchair and being unable to go on wet grass I am forced by the council to stop walking my dog as I can't let her off while I stay on the path anymore.
A nice place for a quiet stroll. Make no mistake it is a plain field but spacious and pleasant enough.
Fantastic park for dogs with a lovely fenced off area....... but I did lose my football up a tree, if anyone finds it let me know
The dog walking area is great and you get to meet some lovely people walking their dogs. It is nice to have somewhere you can let your dog off the lead without any worries.
Small fenced off area where dogs can run off leash and socialise. Lovely friendly group of dog walkers, usually around 430 or 5pm, with advice, natter, and endless patience for new and nervous dog owners. Occasional stoners looking for a quiet smoke, surprised by rumbunctious dog greetings. Tiny cafe stall in someone's garage round the corner. Yes, I know.
Would be great but the spring that closes the outer gate has disappeared which could let dogs out to the busy road. Smaller dogs are able to crawl under gates to the dog free zone. It would be such a simple fix.
A well maintained and equiped Local Authority Cricket Ground. Two pitches and a delightful art deco pavilion complete with Bar Changing facilities and showers . Little Shelter from the elements. Limited public parking. Shame about dog/fox mess on playing surface. Friendly club members.
Excellent place to let the dog off the lead as there are secure fences and gates. Shame not everyone picks up their dog mess.
It used to be better when dog walkers weren't forced to churn up the same narrow path, its just a mud pit when it rains now.
Used mainly by local schools and clubs, the Manor Sports Ground or Broadwater Manor as it was known to me as a kid is simply a sports field that caters for cricket, hockey and football. It's an ok walk with a little tot or on your own for a bit of fresh air but if you're looking for more - a playground, exercise equipment, skate area or just a path/walkway - forget it. It's also walled, so fairly secluded unless one of the homeowners whose property backs onto the field looks out of their window. I'm not sure I'd venture in at twilight on my own. Basically, unless you're after some peace and quiet when there are no sports clubs using the space, or you are one of the sports clubs, this 'park' offers very little.
