Really lovely lake, can walk around the park. Playground seems nice for kids. There's a cafe but haven't been in yet. It has an outdoor seating area looking over the pond. Plenty of benches. Playground: Big.
It was busy as it was school holidays. Nice sitting outside looking over the lake. It was the afternoon and choices were limited as it had been so busy but what was there looked nice. Coffee was nice and the foccacia and the bun we had were delicious. Only one downside are the toilets around the back of the cafe! They were filthy, no soap, no paper. The sink was disgusting. Hadn't seen a cloth for sometime. We spoke to the chap in the cafe and he said the council was responsible for them and they aren't cleaned enough. Brooklands is a lovely place and what they have done to make it nicer is lovely. The kids park is amazing. The cafe and staff are lovely. Let's hope like so many things the council now don't abandon it! Playground: Amazing and swings for wheelchairs. Some willow domes and arches I'm the play area. Plenty of play equipment and a sand pit area. Restrooms: The council are responsible and they were disgusting the day we went.
Delightful park for an easy stroll around. There are two car parking areas. One via the coast road Brighton Rd and Western Road. Western Rd car park is adjacent to the excellent new café. Cash is still taken at the car parking ticket machine no change given!. Monday to Sunday 8am to 6pm including Bank Holidays.
It is a beautiful park with an extremely well-kept and beautifully landscaped lake with playgrounds for children, accessible benches around the park and along the lake, as well as a well-positioned cafe and available parking spaces
Took my dog for a look round to see how things were developing, apart from the cafe that isn't complete, we lived being surrounded by water, trees, beautiful flowers and a serene walk. Lovely. Oh yes and not forgetting the outdoor gym which I will maybe try next time. Playground: Didn't go into the playground, but they are amazing and the children playing in them appeared to be having a great time. Restrooms: Porta cabins in the carpark at the far end, be better when the cafe and loos are complete. Dog-friendliness: Lots of lovely friendly dogs and their owners who were very respectful of others, great place to walk your four legged friends. Picnic area: I didn't pay much attention to this as not what I was there for, however, I'm sure it is a lovely place to have a picnic.
Lovely park, to take walks with family. But somehow the sewage seems to have spilled on the lake thereby affecting the fish. The smell of the sewage is overwhelming. No toilets which is a spoiler especially if you have kids. There is an upcoming new development which seems to be a cafe and hopefully there will be some toilets as well. Playground: Well maintained play area for the kids with zip wire, marimba, slides and others kid’s favourite areas to use Dog-friendliness: Can walk dogs here, leash or not. Picnic area: There are tables and place to sit for picnic
A beautiful space well redesigned for various outdoor uses for all ages
I have chosen to Volunteer with The Friends Of Brooklands Park because the Park needs as much help as our Community can give be it Planting, Repairing or just generally keeping it clean or getting the lovely place cleaner. The Council do their very best but reality is finance is so stretched that Parks and Recreation are low down the list of demands. I personally advised I want to clear debris strewn patches that have soil encroachment or over growth. One pathway has been flooded including sediment all Winter as its drain is blocked this path has been cleared by me but now needs desperate A&WDC Engineers to clear and repair the drain causing the issue. More people need to simply, politely ask the Council to do this, be fair and polite as we Volunteers see Council Staff under pressure to just get a few pounds for even simple projects. The Parks Manager or Warden works very hard to ensure Community Volunteer Projects are supported to ensure Groups in education or care get to come and learn whilst helping improve our Park. Twice each month Saturday Mornings and Wednesday Mornings the Volunteer organiser ensures some of her team are there to guide gently those who give their time. For anyone this Park is changing , improving becoming a good key part to our Community, we can always use more help, people who might like me wish to take up a project or work on one area of this vast park they feel they could improve. Do please get in touch with Friends Of Brooklands Park if like me you are wanting to give a few hours each month message or turn up on dates shown on our page. If you want to come and join me on my paths and entrances look out for me in my yellow volunteer vest. I will guide, talk to you as well as just accept whatever time you can give. We are a laid back group accepting of any help or time you can offer.
Lovely place to walk your dog. I do think as there’s a big space of greenery it would be beneficial if they could do an area that’s fenced off with a gate so you can safely let your dog off without escaping that would be amazing other than that a lovely natural place to relax, walk your dog, coffee and kids to play Maybe a few more dog bins needed to be added…
Incredible what’s been done here. The wetlands attract a fabulous array of wildfowl, but the best thing about Brooklands has to be the play area, suitable for children of any age. The cafe is always busy, which is a good indication of how good the food and drinks are. Cooked breakfast is my top option. Car parking isn’t expensive, and cheaper than a fine the wardens are very sharp. Lovely for a short stroll with the toddler.
