Livingston Inn

About

We are proud of our reputation for serving top quality freshly prepared food using only the finest ingredients and local produce in season.

Story

Built in 1760, Livingston Inn stands in its own grounds and is set within a Scottish conservation village in Livingston, West Lothian. One famous resident was Robert Burns who stayed here and penned the song “The Bonnie Lass of Livingston“ during his stay in the Inn.

In many ways the hotel buildings are a monument to bygone days, the stables have been converted to open plan bar and lounge hotel area and have centuries of stories to tell.

When you combine this tradition with the relaxed atmosphere and quality of service provided today, the Livingston Inn becomes an oasis in a sometimes too busy world.

We are proud of our reputation for serving top quality freshly prepared food using only the finest ingredients and local produce in season, presented by our award winning chefs. Booking is advisable at the weekend.

We have 12 en suite bedrooms, function suite & private dining area for up to 50 people. We can cater for small weddings, birthday parties and other party arrangements.

Lovely starters husband had a delicious steak..desserts were awesome..however what happened to the order of steak pie..I was served an awful stew with two little rounds of puff pastry, which had clearly not been cooked with the meat was utterly revolting and did not constitute a steak pie ..utterly disappointed...everything else was great but my meal was appalling. Won't be back!
Food was great, staff were excellent! Very accommodating to dietary requirements dairy and gluten allergy with a gluten free bun provided with the burger! Staff went absolutely above and beyond with their service, highly recommend!!
Popular centrepoint for the large rural area round about, and well-known even in the town of Livingstone some distance away. About half a dozen draught beers including Asahi and Belhaven Best. Large menu of upmarket pub favourites, fairly typical of a country inn. Service is acceptably brisk and efficient. Livingstone Inn is an enormous building, and has a large bar area with a choice of wooden chairs or sofa seats to sink into. Unobtrusive soft rock in the background, Black Velvet style. The addition of bedrooms could make it ideal for exploring the myriad and splendid countryside walks and cycle paths with forests gorges and the heritage centre a short walk away waitress said all the rooms are contract and not available to the public — yet I found some on the popular booking site. Kitchen and bar is from midday to mid-evening.nThe adjacent ‘village’ comprises the Inn, a trendy barbershop with a beauty salon on one side and a cafe on the other. That’s it. Though apparently there’s also a post-office somewhere.nI went for lunch, mid-week. I was more than satisfied with what I felt was an above-average chicken & bacon salad.nMinor criticism is that the staff seemed a bit rushed off their feet, even with just a handful of customers.
Visited for lunch today had a salmon fillet which was lovely . Chips under cooked and to finish of had a chocolate fudge cake which was very dry . Atmosphere was nice . Staff were okay .
Food is good and at reasonable prices. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Pleasant outdoor areas to eat and drink.
