The Lister offers general and specialist hospital services for people across much of Hertfordshire and south Bedfordshire and provides a full range of medical and surgical specialties.

Story

The Lister is main specialist hospital for inpatient and emergency care for people working and living in much of Hertfordshire and south Bedfordshire. In total, it has some 620 inpatient and related beds.

It provides a wide range of medical, surgical and critical care specialties, as well as full 24/7 emergency department and the Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit. The Lister also has the usual range of outpatient and diagnostic services.

An increasing number of regional and sub-regional specialties are now based at the Lister, including urology, renal medicine, the Trust's 24/7 heart attack centre and an acute stroke service.

This is actually the most quickest hospital to be treated, have a break in the cafe and go but it obviously depends/differs on the test type your having. The main thing is it’s a very big hospital so you may be doing a lot of walking but at least you get down what you need to. Very useful really..

I would like to thank all the nurses and doctors who attended me. Everyone was very calm, polite and friendly. The doctors attending me seemed to care, they listened to me and answered to all my questions. I felt very well looked after and respected. The best NHS care I have received ever. Thank you again

This is a comment about the process, not the staff, all of whom I interacted with were nothing but helpful. 2 hour wait for a simple blood draw, and this apparently is common. Serious lack of parking and I thoroughly recommend avoiding the multi level parking structure which has been specially designed to create gridlock between the entry and exit streams. Overstretched NHS resource. Avoid if you have the option.

Usually a good hospital but pathology really let's it down.... Can be waiting 4-6 hours for bloods to be done, quickest I've ever been seen was about 2 and a half hours once....

Been in for day ENT operation. Despite bed pressures and how busy they are I have to say that each and every nurse was super attentive, kind and helpful. Better experience than when I went private. Thank you to all staff in the theatre, especially recovery and the day surgery before discharge .
