Leeds is a city[a] in West Yorkshire, England. It is the largest settlement in Yorkshire and the administrative centre of the City of Leeds Metropolitan Borough, which is the second most populous district in the United Kingdom. It is built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. The city was a small manorial borough in the 13th century and a market town in the 16th century. It expanded by becoming a major production and trading centre mainly with wool in the 17th and 18th centuries.nnLeeds developed as a mill town during the Industrial Revolution alongside other surrounding villages and towns in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was also known for its flax industry, iron foundries, engineering and printing, as well as shopping, with several surviving Victorian era arcades, such as Kirkgate Market.City status was awarded in 1893, and a populous urban centre formed in the following century which absorbed surrounding villages and overtook the population of nearby York.nnLeeds' economy is the most diverse of all the UK's main employment centres, has seen the fastest rate of private-sector jobs growth of any UK city and has the highest ratio of private to public sector jobs. Leeds is home to over 109,000 companies, generating 5% of England's total economic output of £60.5 billion, and is also ranked as a high sufficiency city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network. Leeds is considered the cultural, financial and commercial heart of the West Yorkshire Urban Area.nnLeeds is also served by four universities, and has the fourth largest student population in the country and the country's fourth largest urban economy. The student population has stimulated growth of the nightlife in the city and there are ample facilities for sporting and cultural activities, including classical and popular music festivals, and a varied collection of museums.
Leeds Train Station well organised station with easy navigation and inclusive facilities. This is located just a few minutes from the city centre. The toilets are clean, the staffs are friendly. There are various selection of foods and drinks. The escalators and lifts are working well. Trains are very neat and tidy. There are cafeterias for light meals, snacks, and coffee. A lovely place with plenty of seating available.
Leeds Train Station is a striking blend of modern elegance and practicality, setting a high standard for contemporary transport hubs. Its sleek and sophisticated design exudes a sense of refinement, creating a welcoming and organized atmosphere. The station’s cohesive architectural style enhances its visual appeal, seamlessly integrating form and function.nnTravelers benefit from clear, timely announcements, ensuring a stress-free and well-informed journey. The station’s spacious layout facilitates smooth navigation and provides ample room for passengers, whether they are waiting for a train or moving through the area.nnImpeccably maintained, Leeds Train Station is a testament to cleanliness, efficiency, and thoughtful design. It offers a superior experience for both daily commuters and occasional travelers, making it a true asset to the city.
Decent train station with a good selection of shops including Sainsbury's and M&S. Gets busy very quickly at peak times. Loses a star for a confusing layout and the escalators often being out of order.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The station has three exits but getting an Uber to pick up can be tricky. Lots of shops, food and drinks on offer both inside and outside the station.
