Visited the grounds, not the castle or cafe....yet! An oasis of calm with parking! A really lovely location to relax and unwind walking under the beautiful trees and on the lawns. There's a croquet ground which has wonderful views to the river Forth. Delightful!Visited onWeekdayReservation recommendedNot sure
Good place to go for a walk round the grounds. Castle itself unfortunately closed, but still worth a trip. Great rose garden and Japanese garden. Coffee shop is incredible too! Amazing cakes!
Just a lovely place for a walk, and what a view! Japanese garden is lovely all year round. Laurieston has a nice little wee cafe that does good if a tad pricey coffee and cakes - but it's worth remembering that the gardens are free to visit: the price of a coffee, and maybe even a wee cake to go with it, is worth it just to be there
Beautiful grounds, lovely castle, overlooks cramond island, dog friendly and has an outdoor cafe. What more could you ask for? : The Japanese garden is a must. Mimi bakehouse has a small outdoor cafe. Highly recommend this location if you're looking for an outdoor walk.
Make sure you book a tour in this fantastic castle...dating back a long long time it has been adapted to each owner's taste...now you can wonder around a 1920's home - all original...the bedrooms, bathroom, library, dining room ect. The place is kept with much love and attention to detail. Escape mass tourism and discover Edinburgh off the beaten path
I have lived in Edinburgh for over 30 years but it took me until today to visit Lauriston Castle. But I'm so glad I went as it is a beautiful little hidden to me gem. The grounds are spectacular and varied including a pond surrounded by greenery and a beautiful weeping willow, a Japanese garden and wooded areas. We took the guided tour around the house which was enjoyable and interesting with some beautiful original furnishings and gorgeous views of the firth of forth. The library especially is an amazing room which I didn't want to leave. Definitely worth a visit .
Summer open times are 8am to 7:30pm. Castle has reopened tours so booking is essential available form 11am till 3:30. Absolutely worth doing. The staff are so informative and the house is truly a marvel. This place is the definition of a perfect place. Free. Its central. It is not too small that it is crowded or too big its overwhelming. Need an hour to see it all. Phenomenal cafe on grounds. Perfect for dogs. Toilets need some work but there are facilities open spaces for picnics and families. Bowls pitches. Private garden. Japanese garden that is stunning and so peaceful. A respectable display of unity. Historical building. War memorial. Alongside the coast. Gravel path for prams and wheelchairs not paved. Woods. Ponds. Working beehives. Absolutely amazing place. Has Mimi's bakehouse one of My favourite cafes as they do GF and DF stuff which is so tasty open weekdays 9am till 4:30pm and weekends open till 5pm.
A mini castle set in a serene place. Paid entry into the castle for a tour. However, place around the castle, likes of the park, cafe and toilet are open for public. Ample car parking space. Nice view of Crammond Island and the coast from rear of the palace.
A great small state in the city. Beautiful house and gardens. Also a delightful Japanese garden. I visited this place in Spring, summer and autumn, every time surprised by how the garden glows. There is also a small coffee shop with great cakes and ice-creams
