Statue of David Hume

This statue caught my eye right away. Hume in classic Greek style is for me a fine Scottish statue. The shiny toes is due to people rubbing it for good luck. I love that one of the most reasoned minds is commemorated with a toe that’s lucky to rub! Scotland, you are brilliant!

Have to love a city that honors its intellectuals.

It has a landmark essence to it. Obviously Edinburgh is a city of great philanthropists and stewards to different achievements. David Hume was a historian and essayist. From a concoction of philosophical dip to that of the natural science ,this man had it's understanding well graphed.

The heart of Royal Mile dedicated to the brightest mind. Recommended.

Been there in mid October. Such a wonderful wonderful place to be. My daughter booked an apartment in the middle of the town gails apartment so beautiful. Loveed.it..sooo much..Must visit one time in life time.

Excellent statue, centrally located on the Royal Mile, seems to be crowded at most times by nature

A tribute to a great philosopher, thought it's a pity that some visitors might believe that rubbing his foot confers good fortune!

Undoubtedly one of the more noticeable statues erected in honor of great Scottish men and women. The belief that touching his toes will help pass test or gain new knowledge make his shiny foot quite prominent and interesting.
