Decent wee corner of Edinburgh, where you can see the castle and the corner where the Telford and Flodden walls meet. Also, the school where Jean Brodie taught is along the vennel. Makes a nice route to/from the Grassmarket to Chalmers street and the university sector.
Great place for a solo walk

Nice view of the castle, but not much to see, as it’s just a wall...
Not the only place in town where you can see vestiges of the original Flodden Wall, but without a doubt the most picturesque. I work a few blocks away and make it a habit to walk up the steps every now and again, just to remind myself how beautiful a view it is.
It is a wall. I was leaning against it. It didn't let me pass through. It is functional. It seems to do its job. I would score this wall higher, but it was unresponsive.
You can feel the past there, but also the view over to Edinburgh castle is beautiful. Worth a visit if not for the history, at least the view makes it worth it. Part of the original city of Edinburgh wall.

One of the most beautiful castle views in edinburgh. Look at the castle while going down or up, the stairs along flodden wall. A must visit place in Old Town.
