So many hard working folks working too hard and not smart. Things that should be quick take hours. There is way too much bureaucracy and not enough common sense. This hospital is not able to safely and efficiently serve the community. Saying this…. The employees are really trying hard. That’s why I gave 3 stars instead of 5. Whoever is the health secretary needs to come up with creative solutions for Kettering General and any other hospital with the same issues.
This hospital is an absolute disgrace. It was unable to give my terminal mother even the most basic of care. Food was just dumped on her table and she can barely see due to Diabetes. She had a plaster removed and the nurse was asked to stop but continued. The whole of the area had the skin removed causing considerable discomfort and bleeding. She had run out of liquid one day and kept asking and asking so resorted to ringing my sister to contact the hospital. We were challenged on several occasions about visiting out of hours which had already been authorised due to mum being terminal. Hospital staff had commented on her being unhelpful and uncooperative when trying to get her to sit up. She has a replacement shoulder not designed for excessive strain or positioning. She overheard comments about their belief she could do more. In short this hospital lacks care compassion and understanding to the point someone could die unnecessarily. I have only listed a few grievances here, but it is my honest opinion that this hospital is unfit and unsafe and needs immediate measures starting from the top downwards.
We had to attend A&E this weekend . Was dreading the wait period . From entering department at 9.10 am to leaving at 11.45 my husband was treated with the upmost respect from nurses to the wonderful doctor attending him . They have done more in one visit than two visits , two phone calls to out GP.. with a call when we got home to arrange a follow up appointment in 6 days time ! My husband has asbestosis on his lungs , heart disease , pacemaker , and now pneumonia .. treated with wrong antibiotics at our surgery .. told to buy cough meds if need be . After coughing for over a month we now know why . Thank goodness for a competent doctor at Kettering . Thank you so much to all of the staff working under difficult conditions short staffed with little resources.
My mum just turned 80 and is in Twywell ward due to having brain cancer and seizures. I couldn't thank the hospital enough for taking care of her while being a patient. Sadly though for what ever reason she caught *hospital covid* and got put in a covid ward with no visiting allowed for about 10 days. She has since deteriorated at a fast speed in these10 days. The hospital were good enough to let both myself and my fiance to visit her for a couple of hours even though it was supposed to be only one person by the bedside at a time and Marie Curie are setting up a plan to have mum home for her palliative care. Thank you to all the nursing staff at KGH and other staff for taking care of out dear mother.
The doctors in this place are highly ignorant and questionable as far as ethics go, I originally went in with vertigo issues, I saw a doctor and she said - "I no help, You pay £1500 then I help, You no pay, You go Leicester" Quite disgusting, Trying to peddle private business in an NHS hospital. The nurses are too busy running around cleaning up messes caused by what seems like work exchange staff from Zimbabwe and Kenya, One of which tried to take blood from me 5 times, Left me with a very bloody arm, An actual nurse came in and looked shocked, Asked her what she was doing, She replied with - "I take blood" To which the actual nurse replied - "But you aren't qualified, You could've introduced an air bubble in to the vein, Get out !" The worker who had less medical qualifications than a boy scout growled at both of us, Yes actually growled, And walked out. The nurse said - "I'm sick of this, So much of my time is running after them cleaning up their mistakes, Most of which are deadly." And if by some miracle you see a doctor you deal with the most ignorant people you will ever meet, They don't answer questions, They are unhelpful, Make the patient very anxious, I have talked to over a dozen other patients and all have said the same, Something is severely wrong at this hospital. The problem goes back before the pandemic which has been used as an excuse, Multiple members of staff need to be fired, Including whoever is in charge of this disgrace of a hospital. Right now I would classify this hospital as a genuine danger to the public.
A particular thanks to Dr Joshi for his prompt response and his many years of my care. The one Dr who was able to diagnose my underlying condition after many years of seeing different Drs here in the UK and abroad and put things into place to improve and maintain my condition. His team around this and other hospitals have been kind and considerate.
Terrible attitude from staff, lack of communication between departments, incorrect information given to patients. Urgent cases left for hours unattended with no help or supervision. Errors in paperwork and even when they acknowledge mistakes, no effort is made to correct them. I'm begrudged to even leave one star. I would rather travel to another hospital outside of the area than put my life or anyone elses in the hands of such incompetency. They are simply a danger to patients.
All staff very good, but alot are working too hard in a place that should have been modernised decades ago. The Hospital Building is not suitable for purpose at all and wants pulling down, having dwellings built on the land and a new hospital built somewhere close by.
Utterly vile hospital. Neglect is at the forefront here. Pretty B ward predominantly show lack of care and leave patients unfed and with lack of fluids. No documentation to show fluid intake when asked for it. Lost my father's wheelchair hope they enjoy it! Lost all his clothes I sent in for him. Denied me access to see him for over 5 weeks.. in this time he wasn't assisted with feeding or fluids. Buried my father on 6th January. Starved and dehydrated. Well done Pretty B, KGH. Disgusting. If I could leave minus stars, I would.
Superb today looking after my mum, thank you so much. Yes we had to wait but all the staff were outstanding, so kind and helpful. Absolutely wonderful, couldn’t have done a better job. Thank you everyone.
