Good place to spend maybe an hour or 2, it's alright its never usually particularly busy so you can feel free to wander around at your own pace and let your children have a good explore. There's some really interesting artifacts but our favourite is the wooly mammoth. There's also a small gift shop. It's close to the other museums and not far to walk from the museum's quarter to the deep or the lovely cafes in old town if you are making a day out of it.

It's free! It's educational! Great way to spend an hour with your children letting them run round and enjoying the woolly mammoth. When the weather is nice you could enjoy a picnic in the enclosed garden whilst enjoying the fish in the pond. Recommended!

A very good museum, with great artifacts. As you walk in, a mammoth stands tall, and the museum further has many interesting artifacts and information on the history of the area. The photograph is of a small statuette of the god Mercury, found in the Roman section of the museum.

En excellent place to visit with kids. There is also the Streetlife museum nearby. Altogether, you should spend a couple of hours there... And it's free too. Bonus!
