We often go to the Kingstown Hotel for food due to it being so conveniently close to us. Service is always friendly and we have never been kept waiting however the quality of the food really is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it's really good although there have been a few occasions when it's not as good. Suppose it depends on who's in the kitchen. Nice and cheap when the food is edible, and they often have good deals on. Edit - got to give it to the place, the food really has improved in the last couple of months. Hats off to them. Service seems to have taken a hit though, just waiting 40 mins for ice cream before enquiring at the bar then another 20 minutes before complaining to the waitress who apologised and promptly brought us our puddings. So better than it was, but still room for improvement.

The worst Sunday dinner Ive ever had. Smash, stale roasties, premade yorkshire puddings. I was adamant there wasn't a chef and this was simply thrown together by the bar staff. Will never return again. The offer was two lunches for £12 or + £2 for XL size (which we opted for as it was supposed to come in a large yorkshire pud) Meal order was wrong and also meal didn't come in a giant Yorkshire as they had run out. Kids play area is ok for £3.50 and was empty when we visited so the little one felt euphoric having it all to himself. I understand now why it was so dead due to the quality of food.

Won't be going back I'm afraid, the food wasn't unedible but it wasn't good either we only ate it because we we're really hungry! Almost empty on a Sunday haha now we know why!

Room was clean, very attentive staff, nice comfy bed. Only thing was banging fire doors when other guests came in late and very cramped in conservatory for breakfast, but the food selection and quality were great. Pub food menu, decent portions at amazing prices and very tasty. Easy to get to, handy for hotel as regular buses into hull from just across at Sainsbury
