An amazing army of volunteers keeps this lovely venue going, so that it is able to host all manner of events including music, poetry, plays and comedy shows. It’s tucked away from the main shopping area but easy to find near the Law Courts and Library. There is an on-site carpark at weekends and, I believe, weekday evenings and there is also a bar. It’s a venue used by various local festivals including Stage4Beverley and the Folk Festival so there’s also something interesting to experience. It also hosts one of the local WI groups. Most of the performances are in the Auditorium but the Cafe Bar is also used as a smaller, more intimate setting.
I love this place! There is such a diverse range of shows - plays, music, comedy & local interest by professional performers with affordable tickets. I’ve seen loads of great shows. It’s a small, cosy place with a lovely bar & cafe. It’s mostly run by friendly volunteers for the benefit of the local community and is great value for money.
A great local theatre and venue for many more events. The theatre is housed within a historic building and puts on stage performance, comedy nights, children theatre and other local interest events. The whole team are volunteers and they also run a café Tues-Sat 10am-2pm to help raise funds.
We attended a concert by Morganwy, a country rock band. The venue was interesting and comfortable. The performance was great. The sound system, balance and tone excellent. Lighting professional and interesting. All in all a good venue well managed.
We have recently moved into the area so have only been to the theatre twice, but on both occasions, my husband and I have enjoyed our experience. The bar rea is very nice and is open for coffees during the day, staff at the theatre are friendly and welcoming and the theatre area is a perfect size for medium sized productions/performances. It's perhaps abit cold so bring a coat, but no big deal. We'll definitely be supporting the theatre!
A real diamond of a place, bursting with history and character. Cosy but with ample facilities and a well stocked and designed cafe/bar attached. Huge amount of parking, with a great view of the minster from the back of the car park.
First visited to see the John Godber play 'Bouncers', lovely intimate theatre, I don't think there can be a poor seat in it. Parking to the rear and very close to the town centre for a visit before the show.
With such a cleverly selected variety of entertainment on offer, we are able to enjoy a wide range of events at ERT. As lovers of live music the Stage4 event was brilliantly put together. Last Saturday evening's performance by Holy Moly and The Crackers was an absolute blast, enjoyed by an audience of all ages. I'm now looking forward to productions of two great comedies, John Godber's 'Bouncers' and Alan Ayckbourn's 'Confusions'.
First visit to this theatre. We went to see "Dracula " Just got back from a week's hols to Whitby, so the production was appropriate. Converted from a church the stage and architecture looked very gothic. Was a bit cold, sat for 2 to 2.5 hours. Price was good at £12.50 each. Thought it dragged on a bit too long. Would go again.
loved the theatre and the show would return in a heart beat great experience thank you.
