It's THE place to go if you are interested in shipping and whaling history. They have exhibitions which last a few months. Recently a Bill Bailey exhibition of curios had my eyebrows raised. The current arctic explorer exhibition is remarkable. That should win awards.

A cool little museum. 5 stars for being free because if the entry were paid, I would downgrade it. A must do for sea/ship buffs but pretty small to keep you engaged for too long.

Can't give this place any less than 5 stars as it is free. Good exhibits and interesting local history. The section on whale hunting was especially good if not a bit depressing that as a species we drove many species of whale to extinction or close to. My favourite part however was the mermaid on display that the description described as 'probably fake'. I like to think the museum staff are having a laugh......

Good place to learn about the past of whaling in Hull. Good for children age 8+ Thank you to the volunteers who help to run the museum. The admission is free and very easy to find.

Very friendly people as soon as you walk in. It's definitely changed since when I was younger and went around. New exhibits and people there to guide you or explain certain elements. It was a lovely day out taking my Mother whose father was a fisherman so was nice to hear her stories as well as she went around
