Haven't stayed here, walked in for an evening meal as a recommendation and was a bit disappointed. Staff were friendly and great, however no atmosphere. Unfortunately the food not so much so. I ordered the 8oz sirloin med rare with baby pots and peppercorn sauce. If only the chef had given the same attention to the steak as the onion rings. Looked impressive with the 3 massive onion rings on top but move them away and the steak was very thin and med to med / well done, not 8oz and there was no sign of a peppercorn in the sauce, just some ground black pepper. Will not rush back.
The location is the best thing about this hotel. We stayed here with our dog to visit the beach and local shops so it was perfect for that. The hotel itself though is not great and I found the room and the meal we had to be quite overpriced.nThe bathroom could have been cleaner and had very poor water pressure. The bedroom was extremely dated with dirty armchairs and dirty carpet, with patches of damp at the top of the walls too. The bedding appeared clean and the bed was very comfortable.nWe dined in the hotel on the first night of our stay, both of us each having two courses and one mocktail, coming to £60 altogether, which I thought was rather a lot for food and drink of their standards.nOur dog was on lead and restricted to the reception area when we ate breakfast or dinner as per the hotel rules but the same rules didn't appear to apply to other guests with dogs which walked or ran through off lead. My dog is intimidated by larger dogs and I believe the rule they should be on lead in common areas is important to prevent out of control dogs from starting to interact with my dog.nI'd like to add that the staff were all quite friendly, even offering a sausage and water for our dog when we stayed for dinner, however due to the unsatisfactory cleanliness and the relaxed rules about dogs posing a risk we unfortunately won't be back.
I stayed here once a few weeks ago. I had gotten a roast dinner and the ham was extremely dry. The food was not cooked to standard with how much I had been charged. The drinks were also shockingly expensive for such a tiny hotel. The room itself was okay but the showers were FILTHY. mold growing from every corner I genuinely felt so so sick. That paired with the food, I wouldn't recommend. 1 star.
For quite a cheap hotel room this was a lovely hotel. It was very clean and the staff were friendly. Was comfortable for the price and right on the coast with parking. We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious with huge portion sizes. The drinks were also very nice as was breakfast the next morning.
Don't book a room at the chambermaid station unless you want Yr 3 day stay to be woken up by loud chatter directly outside the room. Bar , restaurant, rooms and beer garden very clean, staff great.
